Stanford Transfer Applicants 2009

if by some miracle I get in, I will seriously go streaking at one of those games…

lion, i advise doing it when big game is at stanford (i.e. next year). cal fans don’t take kindly to stanford fans wearing red, let alone nothing. i saw cal fans dump a stanfordite in a red sweater over the fence behind the student section (this poor stanfordite made the mistake of walking in front of the student section WITH that red sweater on.)

:) i love the rivalry, it’s super fun. was anyone else witness to “the play”? i actually remember it! my uncle took me on the field and from his shoulders, i touched the mighty axe.

how about I invite my Berkeley friends over and we go streaking together? Berkeley and Stanford side by side.

burger king sucks, mcdonalds all the way.

glenn you are too much.

Wendy’s, Mickey D’s, or Burger King? I would say BK has the top notch fries.

i am a bit partial to wendy’s fries myself. but to each his own.

oh, i don’t eat fries really. i’m all about standard issue burgers and coke that tastes good. :)

in n out is the only fast food place worth going to. and it ROCKS.

ok, agreed.

My friends like Wendy’s best, but I don’t taste any difference among them. My taste buds are not particularly sensitive.

I had a question. So, if I was to write a book that became really famous and I wanted to transfer into Stanford in two years, do I have a good chance? And, with that in mind, do you think it would make a difference if I transferred with a 4.0 gpa from UCSD or a community college? And, another scenario, if I wrote a book (I am in the process of writing one), and it DID NOT become a national bestseller, do you still think I have a good chance for transferring, with a 4.0 college gpa from either UCSD or a community college?

According to one of the posters here who called Stanford about the perceived California community college preference, the Stanford rep said community college students are disproportionately represented among the accepted transfers because they are also disproportionately represented in the applicant pool. If I remember correctly, Stanford has no outright preference for such students as many had previously thought.

So, it would be easier (not exactly easy since it is really hard to transfer) to transfer from UCSD? Would my book help?

I can only speculate, but I suspect it’s not inherently easier or harder to transfer from UCSD. Other factors might play a role, like your ability to get strong recommendations, take and do well in rigorous classes, and get involved in extracurricular activities. You might perform better at one college than another due to environmental influences.

Again, I don’t know much about admissions, but I suspect the book can only help.

also depends on which CC. grossmont has a good reputation, as do some of the others in sd, but some of the ones in the bay area, not so much.

i’d think that ucsd would show stanford that you were taking a more difficult level of coursework. my opinion of CC’s is that they are mostly a joke, with a good teacher/class here and there.

yeah community college is ridiculously easy. that’s why everyone from UC’s take community college courses in the summer to transfer, but it’s easier there than at their uc. go to ucsd. get good grades. finish writing that book. transfer to stanford. and kick ass.

Anyone here applying from a College/University or top tier besides CC? Any juniors applying?

i’m from a cc and also going to be a junior.

I am applying from a top tier. applying as a member of 2012 though.
