Status on Application?

Hello, I applied on Sept. 29, and I have sent everything in. I also called and asked if they have received my application and they said they did too. My teachers have also sent my rec letters, and I had the testing agencies send my scores. I’m just wondering what could be taking so long…

If anyone could help me, that would be great.

Thanks.

Did they not give you an access number to your application online so you could see if anything was missing? Every school my kids have applied do this. Also I’m assuming they do rolling admissions or is there a deadline.

When you say everything was sent in, this means your official HS transcript too, correct? A lot of times this is the limiting factor in when your application is considered complete and will be looked at.

There is also the chance that they have your application but have not reviewed it yet (maybe a lot of people applied in September). Some people took months to hear back, just sit tight and wait it everything is in.

Is UPitt Greensburg a good school, academically?

Depends on what you want to study. Keep in mind that UPG is a branch campus, which means it’s a smaller school, less facilities/students, fewer degrees to graduate with, etc. The opportunities for extracurriculars are also lower. Plus, the branch campuses are used in two ways:

1- to admit people to Pitt who do not have the stats for Pitt Main
2- As a stepping stone for people who could do well at Pitt Main, but need 1-2 years elsewhere first to confirm this.

Note: there are people who stay at branch campuses all 4 years, but many decide to transfer ASAP to get the “full Pitt” experience at Main. I don’t blame them- beyond better academic and extracurricular opportunities, you are also in a bigger, more “bustling” (but not NYC level) city with other opportunities. I would imagine main campus is more diverse. A lot of the “alma mater” type things (i.e. sports games, societies, etc.) are only available in Pittsburgh at the Main campus itself. These are all things to consider when deciding whether or not to go to a branch campus of a university.
