jym626,
My H says that going to the theater via coming in to Grand Central shouldn’t be a problem. If you’re headed to the theater district, you would want to exit Grand Central via the northern exits anyway. And they are working 'round the clock to clean things up.

thanks, momofthree-
Isnt that the exit that used to have the Kitty Kelly Shoestore (a Loooong time ago)!

This is the latest information about which streets are currently part of the “frozen zone.”

Sorry, jym626, the shoestore info is outside the scope of my expertise. ;)

We saw 110 in the Shade. Also available were Chicago, Les Miz, Phantom, Frost/Nixon, Spring Awakening, and just LOTS. My guess is that just about everything – except Wicked – will have some availablity. It seemed like such a potential waste of money to have thought about getting tix from Ticketmaster ahead of coming to the city – and also what a great idea to go to NYC for vacation and see several shows at half price!

Since I have a real life – one night and one show was all I could manage, but it seemed like a good idea!

GCT is pretty much fully operational. Additional exits besides just the north exits have been open since yesterday (in particular the Vanderbilt exits, heading toward the west/Broadway area, are open).

Washdad and Jymmie,

I hope that you and Washdad’s wife take advantage of resturant week while you are in town.

Restaurant week is a great deal.Be aware some of the places do the deal at lunch only.
Last two weeks in July, first two weeks of August are the biggest vacation weeks for workers/local residents to be away from NYC.When I used to commute to work on the subway you could always notice the difference in those weeks.I think theres way less group theater outings in summer so more last minute ticket availability.
For anyone coming next week, you’ll probably never know anything happened here, thats the way NYC “rolls”.
Excellent weather expected after the storms/humidity goes away.

Any restaurant recommendations if we come in via Grand Central Station? Not sure if we can get into the City during the week, though, so it may not work out. I see that soem are extending the offer 'til Labor day. Will any do it on the weekend??
