unalove - thanks for the post. Also, not wanting to post prelaw figures is totally understandable. I forgot whether it was you or another poster (maybe uchicago12?) who was actually interested in law school. If someone with an interest in law school wanted to head to Ida Noyes and even just get the basic figures (avg. GPA and LSAT of applying Chicago students, whether those that don’t have top scores are showing some savvy and avoiding law school, etc.), that’d be very helpful.

Also, yep, I just get the sense current Chicago students are much happier than my immediate peers. When I was at Chicago, many of the students really wanted to be at Brown or Columbia, but really weren’t talented enough to gain entry there. Then, coming to Chicago, where they were ill-equipped to start, and watching the school fall in the rankings and fall behind Wash U or whatever didn’t help matters. Now, I’d imagine that Chicago students aren’t envious of their peers at say, UPenn or Cornell, and they don’t look enviously at Brown or Dartmouth as clearly better colleges.

Overall, I think people forget how much chicago has changed, and why listening to alums - even relatively recent alums like me - is somewhat problematic.
