So let’s say someone likes the idea of a wool blazer and jeans, but isn’t six feet tall and 83 pounds. What should they look for in that blazer?

Pizzagirl, I’m not trying to criticize Doncaster. They have attractive clothes. This, for example, is great looking, and I think it would look good on me:

They’re just not for me. For one thing, they’re way too formal for my exceedingly casual lifestyle. I would have no occasion to wear an outfit like that.

Couldn’t you wear that boucle jacket with jeans?

You’re right, mathmom. One could.

Oh I didn’t see it as a criticism! I was just commenting that I don’t think the stuff I bought was particularly fashion forward, that’s all! It was too $$ for it not to be stuff I could wear for years.
I did, but I no longer have much need for those kinds of outfits as I wear jeans most days. The only thing I still have is the little black dress which was very plain cut.

My wardrobe is mostly casual too - I just like to have some dressier stuff on hand.

That’s a nice jacket - it’s not for my build (I’m too busty for that shape) but it would be a useful piece.

CF: I love that Boden jacket. I love that it is 100% wool.

Sometimes when I’m not sure about fit, I call and ask them to measure the garment for me. And that let’s me know whether it is worth ordering to try on. Maybe you have already done that.

The jacket is cute but the very short style -/ the equivalent of the “shrunken” suits for men – would make it hard to wear. I think you need to try on workhorses like tweed blazers and have them altered.

A jacket that falls mid-hip is likely to be more flattering. Or we could all be wrong and it could look great!

I don’t know how that jacket would look on me, but I have broad shoulders and narrow square hips. Usually short jackets are a good style for me. Longer jackets often look mannish.

You could always try it and return it if it doesn’t work!

My body type is exactly the opposite of yours (narrower upper body and wide hips) so my advice on this topic isn’t worth much.
