My college gets to claim Bobby Kennedy because he graduated from the V-12 program, a naval officer training program in the 40’s in which participants spent a year attending classes and lectures and earned a completion degree. Of course he then went on to that other, inferior college beginning with an H.
OH, this is even better–Chief of Staff Leo McGarry from West Wing!
And House!
I’m wondering when someone from the school that doesn’t get any love mentions Hank Azaria.
Robert Quine, Michael C. Hall (Dexter)
Mean Joe Greene, Larry McMurtry, Dr. Phil
From my D’s school
Aunt Lydia from The Handmaid’s Tale
My small LAC has a Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead, The Punisher) but he dropped out to act before he got his degree. Counts? Also Zazie Beetz, who is the lead woman on Donald Glover’s show Atlanta. She’s going to be in Deadpool 2 also, so maybe she’ll be a big star. I think that is our grand total.
If anyone’s seen Rescue Me or The Marvelous Mrs Maizel, a guy in both of them also is an alum…along with Ben from Ben & Jerry’s!
Famous attendees but nongraduates. Frank Lloyd Wright, UW-Madison: perhaps this is why so many of the buildings are ugly. He came, he left, he didn’t conquer. Gov. Scott Walker, Marquette: some mystery surrounds his withdrawal before getting a degree.
I forgot this alum from my school. Proud of his service-first pilot to become a POW during the Vietnam War:
Jim Henson, of muppets fame. I’m sure there are many more, but he comes to mind quickly.
Jim Morrison - Still think it’s cool we graduated from the same place.
Shel Silvestein, although he got expelled, we’ll claim him anyway! (It’s better than the only alum with his picture in the Union when I was school—Hugh Heffner.)
@JenJenJenJen I happened to hear part of the Jon Berthal interview on Howard Stern (I had just seen him in The Accountant and Baby Driver). He told a funny college story about lying in an acting class. Worth a listen. He also went to acting school in Russia!
@3sonsmom Ha! Maybe he went to that Russia school when his lies caught up to him.
Not a celeb in the traditional sense… but Paul Ryan and I were in Poly Sci 101 together
I’m frustrated with myself that I don’t remember one of my state’s U.S. senators from law school, even though we were in the same year.
Hugh Hefner! Guess he wasn’t a generous alumnus, don’t recall any Hefner buildings on campus. Go Illini >:)
Robert Redford (but didn’t graduate,)
Byron “Whizzer” White - Supreme Court Justice
Trey Parker and Matt Stone - South Park
Lynn Cheney (wife of Dick Cheney)
And about a dozen or so Astronauts - including Scott Carpenter - who was one of the original seven Mercury Astronauts.
Tbh, I had to look up famous alumni. I’m shocked how many graduated from a school that is a perennial on the top 10 party school list.
Not my college but Steve Wynn is an alumni of my private high school.
Robert C. Baker - inventor of the chicken nugget
From my HS, the Netanyahu 's, though I only met Jonathan for an hour+
