<p>Bacon gets a bad rap. Two slices of Hormel bacon is only 70 calories. 110 calories for thick sliced bacon. The fear of fat that has been pounded into us makes it hard to get a handle on what is really fattening. Having two or three pieces of bacon is nothing compared to chowing down on “fat-free” red twizzlers or handfuls of peanuts.</p>
<p>I think the Atkins diet is basically solid, it’s just a bit too extreme on the low-carbs. There is a lot of agreement that the first two steps to losing weight are:</p>
<p>1) Cut out the processed sugar and processed sugar products</p>
<p>2) Cut out the refined white flour products and cut way down on grains, period.</p>
<p>If you do that, you will already be eating a reasonably low carb diet.</p>
