We just bought a white fridge ( matches other appliances), as we’ve dumped the fingerprint collecting stainless, however I did notice these in the showroom and it was very attractive.

I guess either i have no finger prints- come to think of it last time i got finger printed (for work) they had trouble with them- cream etc did not help they finally found one finger that worked. You guessed which one. Perhaps not using that one enough. I offered my foot but they did not think that was funny. Feds do not think things are funny, but I digress…yes the stainless steel does not collect finger prints as much as i thought they would. We have for 13 years a stainless steel Viking (H cooks and ONLY could have this model) which takes a LONG time to heat up but it looks good. I have a stainless frig, black MW and black dishwasher. Black brown countertops with wood floor and wood cabinets medium colored. When I replaced the MW multiple times now did it with black or stainless each time. The frig replacement will have to be probably black or stainless.

I always thought that I could dress up the kitchen with a red toaster or red mixer/blender.

Red would look really good with stainless. And black & white linoleum.
My H would love that.
But you can see our kitchen from the front door, so I didn’t want such a change from the rest of the house.

there are other colors- blue, peach, etc. kitchen aide makes alot of colors for mixers. not sure what is out there in colored toasters. my kitchen is the first thing you see in the front door too.

Kitty, my cabinets are light oak but I would think bisque would look good with dark cabinets. I would think the fridge would lighten the room up. I, too am design challenged but I do think my kitchen looks good and yours will too!

My dishwashers migh not work as well as for others becuase I have 2 absolutely “must” requirments. First - it has to be the queitest on the market. Second - I cannot use any detergent that has any kind of smell. I use a lot of plastic containers - we pack our lunches in them. Plastic absorbs smell much more than glass / stonewear. And in addition, I am exceptionally sensitive to all artificial smells, Yes, I much rather smell sweat, than detergent, I get nauseating, no cologne, no perfume, please, not in my house…It is almost impossible to find any cleanning substance that does not smell. The professional who came to fix something on my dishwasher alos told me that the best for the logevitiy of dishwasher is Dollar General detergent. This one also happen to smell the least. However, my H. sneaks some fancy detergents, and they do not work either, although they do not smell.

MiamiDAP: I hate the smell of the perfumes used in detergents (and some of them make me sneeze). I have run my (very quiet) Miele on the “sanitize” cycle without any detergent at all, without it being a problem. I routinely use about 1/4 of the “recommended” amount. I personally think the “recommended” amount is way too high, and that it’s all about profits, not cleanliness.

6I will definitely keep Miele in mind for the future. Sounds great, thanks for sharing!

Has anyone bought the GE Slate (color) fridge?

Glass is much preferable to plastic.

The thing about the fingerprints on stainless steel, yes, you see them easily, but then you realize, all that gunk is still existing on non-stainless. I decided the stainless helps me to clean all the appliances more diligently. We try to wipe them down each day and seeing the messy fingerprinted inside of the refrigerator door is what reminds me.

EastCoast- our icemaker has the same type of silly plastic parts that move the ice uphill to be dispensed. At $400 for a repair and part replacement, we have just been opening the door for years!
