Wait-I see a sitcom. The trials and misadventures of being married to a Martha inspired “wanna be” who can’t always pull it off with just a hint of Lucy Ricardo ineptness. Long suffering husband and children. Side kick neighbor/partner in crime sort.

Actually it is a running joke when he comes home from a trip…He walks in, gives me a kiss and then starts walking around the house, looking at all of the walls and finally asks me okay what did you do while I was gone? He is always happy when I say we didn’t work on our house this time we worked on Ethels! Of course Ethels husband is simultaneously walking into a home that he now has to fix. (our DHs work together) My favorite memory is the time we decided to whitewash her kitchen cabinets…her hubby had to work on the kitchen for 3 weekends, although they were beautiful when he finished them (very pretty cherry stain)

^^ hey, that’s one sneaky way of getting him to do something you want done. Mess it up first, then he has to fix it. Mwahahahaha! <insert evil=“” laughter=“” here=“”> ;)</insert>

You mean she’s been tricking me this whole time!!! That sneaky woman!

LUCY! You got some splainen to do!!! :)

Seriously, I’ll let you in on little secret about us husands. Most of us enjoy puttering around the house doing these kind of projects (Damm you, Bob Vila! (Shakes fist angerly at the sky)). It’s just that you usually need to light a fire under our collective tucas’s (-5 sp?) to get us started.(moderators, please don’t ban me for the bad yiddish word!) I enjoy being Pima’s Knight in Shiny Armor (with a paint brush), but I enjoy catching the NFL playoffs just a little more. (hope that wasn’t too sexist, I know there are many wonderful wives out there who could put me to shame with thier handy-women skilz!)

Now why did you fink me out? I have a hard enough time convincing him if “we do this it will look better”. If I take it in my own hands then he has to fix it. I will say, he does a beautiful job. This is a little game we play…I want to do something, he says no, I go behind his back and do it, and he has to go and fix it. I always had a method to my madness and after 19 yrs he now knows how my mind works Now I have to find a new game to play to motivate him to do it, otherwise, he’ll always say you did this on purpose!

Here’s how it goes around here. I ask him to help with something and he stalls because he doesn’t really want to. From here there are two paths:

A) I attempt to do it, he says he’ll fix it but doesn’t, and I hire someone to do it.

B) I just hire someone to do it.

In both cases, he doesn’t notice **for months ** that it has been done if it is something like hanging drapes.
