It’s definitely more than 130. I’ve been sick since Saturday morning and ever since I got sick, it exploded in our building. We have 12-16 kids sick on our floor alone (out of like 45) and going to the Health Center was definitely discomforting.

So, I just got back from an RA meeting, and here is a current update: There are at least 190 students sick in North and South Areas- the numbers are much lower everywhere else. In the Deans’ Halls, there are at least 45 sick students, with Marks Hall hit the worst. 12 sick students on my floor. Some students are still getting sick, but the numbers have slowed down a bit.

If you are sick, were sick, or are starting to feel sick, please DO NOT use EVK or Parkside until at least 48 hours after you started feeling better. You are still contagious and could spread it to others by using the serving utensils.

If your roommate is sick, and you want somewhere else to stay to avoid getting sick, talk to your RA- we may be able to put you somewhere else for 48 hours.

If you are sick, the best food to try to eat is crackers, toast, bananas, applesauce, and tea.

To avoid getting sick, constantly wash your hands and try to keep the air circulating in your room- window open etc.

Hope this information helps!

Oy, 190 now? Wow, I was planning on going back to EVK starting tomorrow, but who knows, maybe I’m better off sticking to the Lot or Cafe 84 and eating in my room or outside, lol.

Also, for students not in university housing there will be a tent outside the housing office located at PSX distributing cleaning supplies and hand sanitizer. It should be operational by 10am.

If you aren’t sick, you should be okay in EVK. My numbers are different because they are the ones that Residential Education has been gathering from RAs, instead of the ones of students calling DPS or going to the health center. Some students went home instead of getting help here, and the 190 number includes those.

I didnt know this was so serious o_O good thing I haven’t been to EVK or Parkside lately, time to eat outtt.

Are the numbers as bad in school apartments or is it just the freshman dorms? My customer center had bunch of purell sanitizers and wipes, although I’m not sure if they know those only kill bacterias, not viruses. Purell’s useless for now wash your hands people!

The L.A. Times has the count about 275 now.

It’s stabilizing, but no hugs for a while

So I heard that they were giving out hand sanitizer and wipes and stuff somewhere today? I missed that, so does anyone know if they’ll be doing that later this week and if so, where?

they are handing out sanitizers and wipes in the housing office at PSX.

if you have the virus and live in usc housing and have a meal plan, contact your RA about info to help meet your dietary needs

I greatly appreciate people giving their updates. I have not read CC for weeks (everyone at home and work thinks I am obsessed with the forum).
I was actually shocked that this had occurred with USC not notifying us. They can contact us when they send out the usc tuition bills not not an emergency like this?
I did sign up for an email update service which someone kindly put in their note.

Sounds like Norwalk agent to me and not food poisoning. The biggest bummer is that my son has 3 or 4 midterms this week.

I just got a sort of neat email about this, in regard to a post very early on in this thread- Georgetown and USC have actually been talking to figure out the best way to respond to the situation. They are giving us advice on what to do with food for sick residents etc. It’s nice to know that universities can help each other out!

Got this email straight from Res Ed, so it’s real. Had to take out the cell phone number (not sure why I got it!).

There’s been a lot of interesting speculation (particularly from the Georgetown side) about the Organic-to-Go link…

you might want to reset your name/email address with the USC system.
I set mine just this summer , and I did get an alert about the gastrointestinal virus both by text message to my phone and by e-mail.
