<p>No acting classes at Muhlenberg the first year. I just spoke with a Muhlenberg freshman I know and he said that’s the case. He also said that no, there is no “musical theater” major: that kids “create” a musical theater major by double majoring in acting/performance and voice/music. I asked the young man why the freshies can’t take acting and he said he thought that the school wanted the kids to get acclimated to college life and learn to trust their new environment so that by the time they are in classes, they can let loose and really explore. I am not sure how valid that is, because every other acting program I know begins freshman year, but I also am a big fan of Muhlenberg and their kids do well, so …</p>
