I’ve had doctors of all types: black, Asian, white, female, gay. I don’t care. What I do care about is where the person was educated (they must have gone to a US or other first world country medical school), what their credentials are (are they board certified), and recommendations from other doctors. I also look up whether they’ve had any problems with the medical licensing board.
It’s your health for Pete’s sake. A bad doctor can wreck your life or kill you.
I used to think I’d prefer a female ob/gym but later decided I preferred the MD who was accessible and would work best with me, irrespective of gender and age. For me, the female ob/gyns had very limited hours and not as much experience as surgeons than their male counterparts, so I have only had male ob/gyns.
I sure wish I could find a good younger internist, as mine is in his 60s and I have no idea how much longer he will practice. So many mds around here specialize or become hospitalists.
