<p>I think that’s great advice–wanted to add that if you’ve got an AMEX business platinum card, you can use the Delta/Northwest airport clubs for free. It’s one of the benefits of the card. I called and set it up so that my D could use the Delta club when she had a 4 hour layover.</p>
<p>And for any kids who are military/uniformed services dependents – many airports have a USO lounge – these are great, with internet access, snacks, comfy chairs (even massage chairs) and nice friendly volunteers. All they need is their DEERS ID. My kids have used it when they’ve had flight delays or long layovers, and been very happy.</p>
<p>Whenever one of mine is stuck somewhere, they call and I buy them an airline hotel on Priceline. I find them incredibly cheap for airport hotels–often $50 will buy you a 4 star. No questions at check in though they want a card for incidentals which your kids should have.</p>
<p>If the kid doesn’t have to be somewhere at a certain time, I’d rather see them out of the fray of an overcrowded airport with lots of angry people. Wouldn’t want them falling asleep in the airport.</p>
<p>We had ugliness, crowds, late planes, etc. flying onto the W. Coast this weekend from the Caribbean. All of the bad weather in the rest of the Country effected all airports.</p>

<p>For the future, if for some reason a driver’s license is not forthcoming, you may want to get her a passport for travel identification purposes.</p>
