<p>if you are certain that you won’t be able to go, it would be considerate of you to call up and let them know in case there is no wait-list from which others can take your place. That said, if there is the slightest chance that you will attend, do not withdraw your application.</p>

<p>I made Eagle Scout tonight (on my application i said i was in the process of applying for the rank), and two weeks ago I learned that i placed in the top 50 in an AZ math contest, and top 10 for my level.</p>
