summer class

fallinwater are you going to session A also?

Bonesman, that is wierd that they let you in with one course.

The registration line is really long, but it goes pretty quickly. Make sure you get there early and bring water because it’s pretty damn hot. They might give you free Yale water like they did last summer… and it was cold, which was awesome. The wait wasn’t so bad though. I actually met my best friend on the line; she was right behind me. So just try to meet your future best friend and the wait won’t be too painful.

thanks sprezzatura

Yeah I get it now, it’s for Pre-College students that you have to take 2 credits.

hey sprezzatura, what’s your name? i was there session B this summer, in free will, god & evil and computer science courses… maybe we met!
if you’re debating signing up for the program, assuming you have the resources to do so, i would say definitely go. it’s awesome, i was personally simply awestruck most of the time i was there to have the opportunity to live and study in such a beautiful place. plus i made a lot of awesome friends, almost everyone i met i liked quite a bit. actually i visited some of the people i met there over christmas break in NYC! so if you like yale, i think the summer course would be a good opportunity to see what it’s like.

I was at session B (Entryway G), and I had a really awesome summer. As for the question about session A, there are very very few high school kids there (I don’t remember the exact number, but less than 20). However, I did hear that they all were really close with one another and with the college students.

entryway g? i was in pg12, the little entryway in the tunnel with only one room in it. across from D, i think. did you know lisa, jenny, or antonia? i think they were in G.

Browsing the Harvard board, I came across a post in which a Harvard SSP student told of Yale Summer Program’s rules, which could be true or could be completely falsified: YSP students have to wear “huge IDs” and are expelled for just leaving the immediate area around campus? Sprezzatura or Bebere, true or made up? Thaaanks.

No, it’s not true.
There is a badge for the electronic gates, but it’s standard size & not “huge”.
You don’t have to wear it either (can be in a pocket, purse, backpack etc.)

Also students even went home (out of state) for a weekend, or visited other students’ homes, all OK.

The kids at Yale who are forced to wear the huge IDs over the summers attend Explo. It’s a summer program located on Yale but is unaffiliated with the university. They’re on Old Campus.

I went to YSP a couple of summers ago and took Study of the City (be prepared for a 20 pg paper!) and Intro to Psych. I had an amazing time, and wholeheartedly recommend the program to anyone with the resources. None of my friends from the program ultimately got into Yale (hmm… I take that back, one did), but it’s okay because we’re all very happy where we are. Two years later, we’re still super close and have little reunions whenever we can.

Entryway G? My best friends lived in that large suite on the second floor of G when I was there. I had one of the massive singles (boo! I wanted a roommate) in entryway D.
