Congratulations on the full scholarship! You may have already viewed it, but there is a promotional video on YouTube on the program. It does mention that the participants play in the orchestra in addition to the 3 hour per day quartet program. Seems like a lot of time in rehearsals, although I would guess the quartet program has a lot of interaction and individual coaching.
My son loved Interlochen many years ago when he attended.
Just thought to start a thread for anyone wanting to post about their summer festival and camp decisions for the upcoming season. We heard from Interlochen last week. Our son (high school sophomore) is thrilled to be accepted for both cello and music production. Violin and viola classmates also heard. He is waiting on another camp before deciding. Would love to hear about summer plans!
My son did the music production program at Interlochen last year and loved it!
S16 here and a horn player. We got a late start on applications and had a bit of a rushed recoding effort consequently. I was going to preserve another ānormalā year for marching band. But after encouragement from some private teachers we jumped on the summer camp band wagon.
We applied to Tanglewood BUTI horn workshop and Wind Ensemble. The orchestra part actually runs into the school year here.
He also applied to Brevard and thatās all we got done.
Very anxious to see whether any acceptance comes along and what, if any, scholarship is offered.
Hopefully weāll hear from Brevard very soon and BUTI on 3/15.
Right now, like Tom Petty said, the waaaaaaiting is the hardest part. Mine was picky about where she wanted to go, so we have a narrow field. Just waiting to hear.
I see that Brevard has extended the deadline for orchestral studies. Anything implied by that? We have apps out to BUTI and Brevard and just wondering what it might mean. Not sure how many horn players they take for sure. But probably got tons more than they need to fill only 8-10 spots.
BUTI results started to come out today
D14 will be attending BUTI for piano. Waiting to hear from another program so we can figure out where sheāll do violin. She is very excited!!
If anyone is waiting to hear from Bowdoin, I was told that they will be sending invitations around March 4th. They may do some EDs by Feb 29th.
Just paid the deposit for my 17 y/o son to attend Interlochen in the Music Production camp. If yours ends up going please lmk so I can try to encourage him to make some friends! He is such an introvertā¦
He will LOVE it!!
Are you on the Interlochen camp parents fb group? It was super helpful in terms of helping kids connect ahead of time
No, thanks for the tip! Iāll look for it.
Aspen decisions are out! D23 is waitlisted for orchestra program in her instrument group.
D24 got in but she didnāt apply for any financial aid⦠now strugglingā¦
Congratulations! What instrument? Can she apply for fin aid now?
Violin⦠guess she didnt check the price tag. Full session costs 10k+ā¦
Eek! Does she she have other solid options that are less expensive?
I remember it will be 12k this summer. Aspen is fun for sure. My son and a former student went last year and had a great time; however, the cost is too high for us to pay in full.
Anyone know when EMF results are out?
Usually mid to end of March
you are from the UK? My daughter just took the Royal Academy audition in NYC
