Summer Opportunities for Seniors?

I’ve said this in other threads, but…

-You no longer “need” internships to get into college, and grad school is ages away…

-As a high school student (don’t count as a college student yet, sorry!) the chances of a paid internship are slim-to-none

-the good internships (interesting/paid/prestigious) in college all expect prior work experience

…So what I would recommend is just getting a job. Apply to B&N, local clothing stores, restaurants, coffee shops, law offices, etc…it’ll probably be boring, but you’ll make spending money (which is SO nice for college) and get valuable work experience that’ll prove to future employers that you can hold down a full-time job. They realize that if you can manage a boring, unfulfilling job for 8 hours a day that you’ll definitely be able to manage a cool, stimulating job as well! It worked for me…I worked at a really boring job last summer after my senior year, earned a lot of spending money and managed to get a really interested, paid internship for this summer!
