^ deadline is the 20th, not the 24th. :(

Little late to the game here, but just sending a shout-out from SSP Socorro 2008! Clouds sucked, but we were still the best.

gah im so impatient.

Me too. I want to know now. And I really want that email. Aw I hope it arrived on time.

I haven’t got the mail either! But DHL says receipt confirmed so I’m happy its there on time
How long does the confirmation mail normally take? I just remembered I haven’t put my email ID anywhere in my application. Its just there in the online registration. I hope that won’t be a prob?

^My confirmation email came about a week after I had mailed in the app, and about 3-4 days after I got the postcard I sent with it (certified mail :)) back. So don’t worry if it seems a little late.

If you know that you have everything in the app sent in - I looked at the requirements about 10 times before sealing the enevelop - then you have nothing to worry about.

And gary7, my email was also only in the online form. Mine came just fine ;).

Thanks! And I had 6 distinct envelopes in a big envelope so I guess the stuff was all there hehe
And towards 19-20 there must have been a rush so the process must be taking time…

^ Likely.

Only 3-4 weeks of waiting now! Whatever shall I do ;)

Did anyone whose application was expected to arrive on the 20th get back a confirmation email yet?

I’m having paranoid thoughts of my envelope opening and all the mail getting lost…

As soon as I can bug my AP phys and APCS teachers to get me my recs, I’m ready to send my app in. It’s about as standard overachieving asian as it gets (near perfect test scores and GPA, plenty of extracurriculars and some school-level awards, but nothing national), so let’s see if it coasts through, since I don’t really have any huge world-changing experiences to talk about…

Great to see another Asian here!
Which country?

hmm, for number 1, i talked about something in physics for awhile, and then i spent like a sentence saying that i dont know a lot about astronomy but that i think its very interesting. has anyone done this before? should i just forgo my part about astronomy entirely? and do i look really stupid?

Haha, I’m an ABC. But my relatives are all from Canton.
And I don’t really know anything about astronomy either, and tbh physics isn’t my strong suit or fav subject… I’d like to be a biomedical engineer :x So I just talked about something I thought sounded interesting in physics. They don’t expect us all to be geniuses; I think they’ll appreciate your honesty.

Yeah, being honest is of utmost importance! You can’t expect to get in without being yourself unless you are a genius, and even if you do, you won’t really feel at home at SSP unless you honestly love science.
But yeah, don’t put it in big bold letters ‘Hey! Sorry, I know nothing about all this astronomy and science, but I heard its pretty cool so I’d be willing to give it a try’

Starts reviewing Feb 24, FINAL deadline is March 20?

So i still have till March 20 right?

I don’t know why 24 is getting tossed around, but early deadline was Feb 20.
Final deadline is March 20. They should receive your materials by then.

^ I don’t know how the 24th got into the discussion, either.

I just got my wisdom teeth out, so I have nothing better (or less painful) to do than to be on CC for hours at a time…

ooooh rough!

fellow SSP hopefuls:
which campus would all of you prefer?

alumni:
which campus is better?

I can only go to Ojai :[

I put no preference.

Just got my email! Thank god.
