<p>Internet to the rescue! From what I could pull up, recondo is short for “reconnaissance commando” and is probably a reference to a type of Army special forces training that bears the same name. Fort Carson, just south of Colorado Springs, does recondo training so I’d imagine that’s where cadets go to get their recondo badge.
