The 120 students accepted, Is it for the research program? Or is this the total for those that will be accepted to the research program and those that will be accepted just for the bootcamp?
I presume 120 is total and perhaps around 40 are doing projects. The mentors don’t have time to manage 120 projects, so they’re probably not doing that many and giving research projects to people who are very experienced in programming, but this is just my guess.
Today morning i got my letter, and i was accepted. I applied for financial aid, so i have to pay only 450$ (without research programm).
I think they definitely have a lot more than 120 students accepted. I know two more people from my city who got in (I live in Kazakhstan, middle Asia)
@zincfearless I got financial aid too without research program! If anyone is thinking about applying but is worried about the money, I’d say apply! However, I think they’re giving research positions to the people that can pay most of the money, since projects are time-consuming for mentors
I applied and got in without research as well. I am not sure if I should do the program since I really want to do the research. Also, I am not sure if the program will help for future school applications without the research.
I got in as well (without the research), but I did not apply for financial aid at the time, and now I need it. I emailed them to ask if there is any financial aid available. Did anyone get rejected btw? So far I’ve only seen acceptances.
@dhuang7878 Could you ask him how many students, roughly, were accepted to the research portion? I got accepted, but I am on the fence of whether it’s worth the money. If it is as selective as you guys speculated, I probably will accept.
Accepted without research. I’m considering whether or not I will do it. With the Bootcamp and Masterclasses, one would be able to create a research project for competitions, but the downside is you wouldn’t be guided and mentored through it (you would have all the skills to do it though).
Stats:
9th Grader
Nothing impressive for awards other than scioly medal at nats, aime, and some mathcounts stuff
@dhuang7878 yeah, knowing the selectivity of the program would be helpful for the general program as well. Thanks!
Does anyone know if this program is legit? So far I have only seen people get accepted and if that is the case the program is probably not worth it for me.
The subset of people of College Confidential probably isn’t an accurate representation of the general population in terms of gaining acceptance into summer programs and colleges. If you’re on CC, it’s likely that you’re driven because you’re seeking to find extra information. Also, someone is far more likely to post if they got accepted than if they got rejected.
They probably will not reject people until after May 30. It’s rolling admissions not rolling rejections
I am not very experienced in programming and my application made that very clear. I still got accepted into the research project program though, which is why I am having second thoughts about the legitimacy of the program.
I also got into the research part of this program. does anyone know how legit this program is? And has anyone received full tuition covered for this program?
@dinosauce313 @ShanayD137 what were stats/major awards?
has anyone gotten into research program with generous financial aid?
In my opinion, my application was very average compared to the types of students I thought would be applying to the program. I was the first author of a poster that I presented at a symposium and conducted some mild research over the summer with a professor, but other than that I had no major awards. My grades were good–4.0/4.0 and I have a 36 ACT with 800s in Math lvl 2 and Chemistry. 5s in Chem and Comp Sci Principles while currently taking AP Bio, Physics, Calc BC.
@dinosauce313 did u apply for financial aid?
@bananapudding123 Not yet, but I doubt I will qualify for much.
