The Who was pretty bad…reminded me of the recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Show where everyone except Mick really showed their age. I guess it really was over 25 years ago that I used to go see The Who and The Stones in concert.

The Who. The Rolling Stones. Tom Petty. Etc. For some reason the Superbowl Halftime Show has become a retirement venue for gray beard rockers. And two of The Who are dead. Perhaps next year Paul and Ringo can play the half time show as The Beatles.

True.

Reminds me of my parents watching Guy Lombardo on New Year’s Eve.

But not quite. When the younger folks rebel and refuse to watch/listen to classic Rock n Roll, then we’ll know we’ve all been put out to pasture.

What a GREAT game!! Geaux Saints!! NOLA deserves to be, given their below sea level location, on top of the world tonight!

Great game, but the ads and the Who stunk up the place. Seriously, there was not one good ad. And as for the WHO; it’s almost unanimous. Bad.

Agree - they were pretty awful - the Who and the Ads. Lots of tacky and icky in the Ads. They do realize women watch the superbowl right?

But I learned something - I didn’t realize all the CSI theme songs were Who songs.

Exciting game. I’m glad the Saints won.

Wow. Pretty tough crowd. Ok, so The Who were showing their age, but give them a little credit. I read they donated the money they would have been paid for this performance - didn’t accept any payment (please no crack about their not being worth paying or that we got what we paid for, etc. )That was a nice gesture. Cut them some slack.

This is a tough crowd. Sick of this new generations music at the moment. Everything sounds the same. They just reminded me of how great the 70’s were. Sorry but JMHO.

Boy, that’s for sure. Sheesh! I suppose a wardrobe malfunction would have been better? Many of the ads were pretty lame, but several were funny. And the game was excellent!

I love The Who’s music but that doesn’t change my opinion that they were dreadful tonight and there is no excuse for dreadful music at an event that can afford better. The music was pre-recorded so maybe they should have pre-recorded the vocals too.

I like a lot of the new music and think it is quite varied - more so than what I listened to in the 70s and 80s.

Awesome game!! My throat hurts from cheering!! God Bless the Saints and the people of NOLA!! They waited a long time for this day. :)

the Game: terrific – I love football and had picked the Saints to win it all only a few weeks into the season, so I was really happy to see them pull it off. Especially as they seemed to be struggling a bit down the stretch at season end. Well rounded group of players, they play like a team, well-coached, gutsy calls, they respect their QB (and he respects his teammates by not screaming at them on the sidelines…), they play aggressive and smart. Brees seems like a classy guy. Really fun game to watch, especially since the apparent underdog pulled it off, with all the undertones of still recovering from Katrina, etc.

the Ads: boring this year.

the Who: yikes. Scary. I agree with someone above - stick to the instrumentals!

Queen Latifah - I really like her. She is a class act - IMO. Did you see where she took out her earpiece? Apparently it didn’t work. She couldn’t hear and still sang on-key; maybe she can give T. Swift a few lessons ![]()
Carrie Underwood - disappointing in song and wardrobe.
The WHO - blech. 'nuf said.

Commericals - c’mon, there were some worth laughing over!
E-trade babies - Love them! My daughter texted me “Milkawhaatttt?”
Bud light “Lost” was cute, liked the Leno, Oprah, Letterman. Loved Brett Farve - MVP in 2020 - haha. did you notice how gray his hair and beard were - hilarious! I like a guy who can laugh at himself.
Too many commercials with men in underwear and too many with men whining about their women (e.g. Dodge Charger). The go-daddy ones - yuk.

The game - terrific! Loved that the Saints won. Turing point was the onside kick to start the second half and of course the interception.

The big question today is…did Reggie propose to Kim yet?

Perhaps it makes sense to stop singing if you’re deaf. Sounds like a plan. Embarrassing.

I like any ad that make me laugh. There weren’t many. The Dorito dog. The baby talking about his broker eating lobster. And I DID like the Google Ad. The Go Daddy ads were unbelievable. Get a clue guys…woman DO watch the superbowl.

The Saints were terrific. Such talent. Nice to see an underdog win. Loved that picture of Drew with his son. My brother said that baby “Fah” always smells great. Made me laugh.

You’re right - Queen Latifah did a great job with the technical difficulty. Few people sing The National Anthem well. It is out of Carrie Underwood’s range so she had to push and scream, but people seem to have trouble turning down the opportunity to sing it.

I was too busy trying to figure out what Carrie Underwood’s hair was about to pay much attention to her singing!

Sean Payton is one of the gutsiest coaches in SuperBowl history. I am still so excited , I can hardly stand it. Wish I was at the parade in N’awlins today. :(

Pretty good, but sloppy and a little sour at the end. The game AND Carrie Underwood.

I disagree with some of the ad ratings. I LIKED the cheesy Go-Daddy ones, especially the (second?) one that ended, “I’ll show you what’s too far for TV . . . !” At least I remembered them! (Megan Fox selling cellphones, too.) And I loved the idea of Leno, Winfrey, and Letterman on a couch. Bud Light, on the other hand, was so persistently dumb it was painful. Tim Tebow was so delicately euphemistic that it barely existed. The new E-Trade babies aren’t as funny-looking as the old ones, but at least the ad had some good ideas. I liked both the Google ad (which has been around for awhile) and the anti-Google ad (with the sumo wrestler).

The animation in the Honda Crosstour ads is the most exciting commercial art I’ve seen in a long time. So why did they have to drop a dull, unremarkable new installment for the Superbowl, rather than the know-your-socks-off “Fever” one?

LOL. When I saw that play, I remarked to my husband, “Now THAT was a ballsy call!”

I didn’t even realize he used to be one of our assistant coaches. Good for him and the whole team. It was a fun game to watch.

Awwww…I think I just sprouted a few cavities reading that. :)

I love the Who, but that was painful. I don’t buy the dichotomy of either this or wardrobe-malfunction. There are plenty of great, talented and well-known musicians who won’t embarrass either the Superbowl or the audience. Springsteen can still command an audience; he was great last year. I didn’t think the Stones looked bad when they played. U2 were great. The Who just don’t have it anymore. That’s not a cut on them; it’s just a fact of time.

H and I felt there was a real misogynist strain to some of the commercials this year. Oh well; I guess that’s how some think they see their audience.
