My brother asked if anyone was coming for the Superbowl. It’s not that he wants certain types of food but that he doesn’t want any talking (my sister always talks). He doesn’t want to watch at a bar, doesn’t want to go to a party, just wants his TV and silence.
S2 is coming over to watch the game with us. It’ll be the first Super Bowl we’ve all watched in a few years since we refused to watch the Patriots. Our usual menu is turkey chili, guac and chips, wings, and various snacks.
It’s a mournful day for me. My cousin’s husband was an avid football fan. They always hosted a Super Bowl party. My BD and her son’s were honored. After 30 years, I feel sad.
Sounds like you’re as into watching football as we are. We joke that our family knows it’s time for the Superbowl based on clues at the grocery store… “Hey, Publix just built a big tower out of junk food and beer - the Superbowl must be this weekend!”
It was delicious! Dh did not add as much red pepper flakes - he said he only added about 1/4 tsp. It was still a little spicy. Too spicy for my mother but she doesn’t tolerate spicy food. The rest of us thought it was just the right amount. She ate the seafood but not much of the broth. He also did not use scallops because I’m allergic to them but instead added clams. I know it’s not the same - I told him to get scallops and just add them after dishing it out but he decided to just get the clams. We will definitely make this again.
That’s funny, I looked at Ina’s recipe! We didn’t have cioppino yesterday but I am thinking it would be great for Valentine’s Day. Thanks so much for reporting back in!
