Support for LateToSchool

Thank you for that, I appreciate it. I am hoping to avoid the pain medication altogether but it is good to at least have some information.

Threekids, I appreciate the support, I really do. I am somewhat surprised though that people are interested. When I first wrote my post, back in September, I was merely responding to an inquiry - someone posted “where is latetoschool?” along with other posters that hadn’t been posting for a while…anyway, I just responded, thinking that if one person raised the question, someone else might also wonder - so - I just answered.

I had been here and had been lurking, but, was so totally shocked over my diagnosis, couldn’t bring myself to participate in any threads.

I have long since evolved from the shock, as well as the fear, and the horror. Looking at small cell under a microscope helps a lot. It really is a very stupid, cowardly disease. All it does is reproduce. I’m way smarter, and so are my amazing doctors.

I hope my experiences are useful to others, and if I can ever answer any questions, please let me know.

Incredibly, we are still trying to get to the right person at Patient Advocate Foundation…

LTS,
Have you had a chance to try out the new Mac yet? What do you think?

Actually, I am propped up in bed, playing with it now, for the first time since I bought it. This is the first night I have come home and felt well enough to even look at it. My daughter set it all up for me before she returned to Miami. So I came to CC to lurk while I very carefully and slowly eat this bowl of soup, and hopefully this italian ice afterwards.

I like it but do find it a bit cumbersome, perhaps it is because it is so new. Just now I tried to right click to copy and paste, and it didn’t work. I know there are commands for these things; I need to read the manual.

I plan to use notes or pages or whatever it is called extensively this weekend, to write a nomination for someone. My daughter assures me that I will be able to save my documents, send them to myself, and open them in Word on my laptop at the office. I hope she’s right. LOL.

Marite, I meant to come back to you to say, if they would have asked me that, they probably would have admitted me, because, just to entertain myself, and especially since there is too much terrific material to work with, I would have answered something very bizarre.

LTS:

LOL!

I remember now that when I was taking Percocet, I was also taking something else for my stomach.

Another day until the weekend. Wishing you a re****l, pain-free one.

LTS, you are one of our favorite people on earth. Let’s face it – everybody loves a winner, and win you shall.

I don’t know who started The Wave, but it appears to be bouncing across the nation picking up energy in support of you. I’m boosting it here from the Pacific Northwest as it continues along with increased frequency, ultimately culminating in the perfect “Zap!” impact on those stupid, lazy small cell parasites. You can tell I’m not a physics person, but you get my drift.

Take care.

Glad you are feeling up to using the Mac (the Italian ice sounds yummy, too).

To copy: just highlight what you want copied and press down on the “command” key and the “c” at the same time.

To Paste: press “command” and “v”.

You can set up your touchpad to respond to two-finger taps, which is like right-clicking but without a mouse. There’s a link in the cafe from a couple days ago with the directions but I can’t seem to find it anymore. I just returned from D’s high school graduation and probably am too tired and sentimental to do a proper search.

Just checking in…I’ve been addicted to working outside in my backyard, but came back today for my cc “fix”…of course, the first thread I came to check in on was this one…you continue to inspire! Hope you’re able to keep some good food down…(I’m with you on the Campbell’s chicken noodle soup being #1!!!) I’ll be thinking of you over the next few days…“bring it!” I love it.

LTS- The codeine can make you very nauseous and cause vomiting. Vicodin has much less side effects. It may be worth a try if you need. Although I know you don’t want to take pain meds, extended pain is exhausting and wears you down, you may just need a little reprieve.

Oh and that mac thing with the 2 finger tap, drives me nuts!, my kids all you use it and i can never get where I want to go.

Let them “bring on” the radiation and we are all bringing it right back behind you. Wishing you rest, strength and big {{{hugs}}}

What time tomorrow? We’ll all be thinking of you then.

ginger tea: one simple way to do this is to just thinly slice a piece of ginger root, put the slices into a tea pot, pour boiling water over the slices, steep, and drink.

Cheers!

Sending good thoughts your way, LTS, from South Jersey …

tears reading about Atkinson! thanks epistrophy!

Regarding the Percocet/Vicodin/tylenol with codeine connundrum. I may have missed a comment about your past nausea with codeine. People have quite varying reactions to all those drugs, and much of the population takes one or the other or all of them without nausea. Vicodin is generally thought to cause less nausea. Historically, I was less nauseous from tylenol with codeine. Go figure. It is rather individual. Your doctors have some good reasons for choosing what they prescribe for your situation, in terms of stronger or weaker. If you’re concerned about nausea, make sure those pills are not landing in an empty stomach. Have a few crackers, toast, milk, that good chicken noodle soup, whatever, before or immediately after swallowing pain pills.

Pain can be a terrible distraction, and there is no virtue in suffering without medication. Take what you need to keep functional, and see how the pain medication may help. Or who knows, may not be necessary!

Dear LTC-listen to great lakes mom-she’s right.
Think of you often.
