Went to see Wicked today with my DH for our 25th anniversary.
When it got to the song “For Good” I couldn’t help but think of LTS and all she has touched. I cried during the whole song.
For those of you not familiar with the song here are the lyrics:

I’ve heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn
And we are led
To those who help us most to grow
If we let them
And we help them in return
Well, I don’t know if I believe that’s true
But I know I’m who I am today
Because I knew you…

Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes a sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood
Who can say if I’ve been changed for the better?
But because I knew you
I have been changed for good

(Elphaba):
It well may be
That we will never meet again
In this lifetime
So let me say before we part
So much of me
Is made of what I learned from you
You’ll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have re-written mine
By being my friend…

Like a ship blown from its mooring
By a wind off the sea
Like a seed dropped by a skybird
In a distant wood
Who can say if I’ve been changed for the better?
But because I knew you

(Glinda):
Because I knew you

(Both):
I have been changed for good

(Elphaba):
And just to clear the air
I ask forgiveness
For the things I’ve done you blame me for

(Glinda):
But then, I guess we know
There’s blame to share

(Both):
And none of it seems to matter anymore

(Glinda):
Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes a sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood

(Elphaba):
Like a ship blown from its mooring
By a wind off the sea
Like a seed dropped by a bird in the wood

(Both):
Who can say if I’ve been
Changed for the better?
I do believe I have been
Changed for the better

(Glinda):
And because I knew you…

(Elphaba):
Because I knew you…

(Both):
Because I knew you…
I have been changed for good…

Keymom- that is a great song. I’m pulling it up on my ipod right now.

Also tugging on the emotions: ‘Seasons of Love’ from Rent.

Sadly, I have no red shoes, but I think of LTS often and miss her voice here.

I first heard that song recited as a poem at a dinner honoring a friend’s son and daughter for their joint bar/bat mitzvah, and I thought how lovely it was. (I still have never seen Rent.)

Loved the collage. It was so tasteful and exactly CC - seeing a part of the truth about people that most IRL people don’t really look at (the feet) without knowing who the person is. I would have contributed, but sadly I have no red shoes. And I have a difficult size foot to fit, so I didn’t really go looking for any.

I also love “For Good.” Haven’t actually seen Wicked, but I’ve heard the music many times because it is often used at dance competitions.

Mootie–thanks for posting the link to the red shoes collage. What a sweet tribute–it made my day!

Mootmom-well done!!

Did anyone happen to see CNN segment about the shoes Palin wore when Mccain introduced her as his VP pick.

In no way, am I endorcing that ticket, but got chills when CNN panned down to Palin’s feet zooming in on her BRIGHT RED SHOES-
weird moment on the day of LTS’s memorial- Sat. August 30th

Mootmom, I love the collage!

SouthJerseyChessMom, those are some shoes! I wonder what LTS would have had to say about Palin? I really miss her. Have followed this thread but not posted.

Good job, mootie!
One request, if I may be so bold…
Can we NOT bring Palin into this thread??? Pretty please??? There are plenty of other places to do that. Thoughj I understand the rensive wonderment about what LTS might have thought… please… lets stick to red shoes and donations…

^^ So sorry for the typos above. Meant to say “pensive wonderment” and “though I understand” . Time to take that Mavis Beacon typing course…

Thank you for the collage. I will put it somewhere on my wall…

Re the photo montage, if anyone would like me to autograph my contribution to it - no one has actually asked me this yet, but as I sit here at my keyboard I distinctly detect an undercurrent of demand beginning to well up - just let me know and I’ll, uh, direct you to my agent (who can provide all the info concerning available ink colors [your choice!], etc.).

epistrophy - I did know exactly which feet were yours! But you never answered me about wearing them to court.

I’d love an autographed copy. Sign in white, I think.

Story of my life … always late. I had every intention of sending a red shoes photo. In fact, the red shoes are sitting next to my bed. I cleaned my closet, found the shoes … then went on my annual Labor Day cottage pilgrimage (a MI Labor Day tradition).

Was anyone able to go to the memorial service? Would you share with us, please? If there had been one in DC, I would have liked to have gone…

kelsmom and anyone else who’d like: if you PM me, I’ll let you know how you can send me your own photo and I’ll put together Red Shoes Collage, Part II.

I’m glad the collage brought you all some joy. It was a labor of love.

Mootmom,

I love the collage!! Thank you. Like many of you, I cannot get LTS and her wonderful D out of my mind. Your collage, though small, is beautiful!

The other day, I found some red shoes in my closet that I didn’t even remember I had. I’ll try to send the picture.

Thanks for the latest contributions Epistrophy and Keymom.

kelsmom—another procrastinator here… I’ll be part of Part II (or Part III) if it comes to that!

I was in DC this weekend—and I attended both the UMD football game, and the Nationals baseball game…I smiled and thought of LTS at both events—SO MANY women were wearing RED SHOES (to color-coordinate their wardrobe, of course), but I thought of it as a tribute to LTS for the weekend of her memorial.

I should have gone around taking pics of all their feet, but somehow that would have been way too creepy :)

(P.S. to binx: Wearing my red shoes in court will, I think, require just the right case.)

The case of the color blind judge?

Perhaps a disagreement between basketball venues? The “court” case?
