Support for LateToSchool

^^ Perfect timing. Remember the poster who dedicated the spandrels she was working on for the new pavilion that Texas Children’s Hospital was building for maternity care? The building opened last week.
Thank you so much for letting us know. It made me tear up a little to learn that.

You’re most welcome. When I saw the announcement of the opening of the Women’s Pavilion, she was in my immediate thought. You might appreciate seeing this: [The Pavilion](Classes & Tours | Texas Children's Pavilion for Women)
The building and its function seems a very appropriate tribute to latetoschool, even though we’re the only ones who are aware of it.

the architect was aibarr, as I recall.

so nice to respectfully remember LTS’s writing with old CC parents here. cheers to each of you.

I was thinking about LatetoSchool as well. Thank you for the update on the building. She was an amazing woman.

Thank you for letting us know that the building has opened, blackeyedsusan. Those spandrels, the cherry blossoms, and the red heels are nice memories of LTS.

I would give a lot to know how her daughter is doing. There was a poster who was in touch with LTS’ daughter, but she doesn’t post any more. Her name escapes me now, but I miss her, too.

NYMomof2, I believe that you are thinking of marite.

Yes, that’s the name! Thanks for supplying it, ADad. I could only remember that it started with “m”.

Yes, it was marite. LTS was an amazing person. A wonderful cyberfriend to all of us. I really hope someone will develop a test that can detect lung cancer very early so it can be destroyed before it gets too powerful.

BB-
Your pm’s are full. Can you clean some out?

When the cherry blossoms were first mentioned a couple of weeks ago, I also immediately thought of LTS. I was startled momentarily when I saw this thread revived. How wonderful that the Pavillion has opened and I hope that aibarr sees this thread. If anyone knows marite IRL and can find out how LTS’s daughter is doing, that would be most appreciated. I think my maternal instinct really kicks in with this one…

Yes.
What you all said.

I would love to read Latetoschool’s life story. She was such a vibrant, interesting, gracious correspondent. Would love to have met her in real life.
