Support for the cancer patient

After the first PSA, his dr did say that even if it continued to climb, DH couldn’t have any radiation until January anyway (post surgery rule of thumb). Diagnostics do seem limited right now.

Quite scary, yes. We are working hard on just saying “well this is scary” . I think DH had convinced himself that the first psa was a mistake. Otoh, his 12/27 retirement target is looking pretty attractive!

My friend/person I call on for work had a 3 PSA 2 years later.

I was there when the nurse called. Said likely a lab error as he had surgery. He had to test again.

No lab error. They think one spot got out. They did 5 or 8 radiation and he’s on the same two drugs I was - Orgovyx and Nubeqa. The PSA is zero again - likely due to the meds. Yours is much lower.

It’s hard for us as patients but drs see this every day - that a spot was missed. We have the cancer so it’s not easy for us to stay calm.

But I’m sure they’ve got this. They know what to do. And your husband needs to stay positive, work out and kick this thing’s a$$.

But the meds today are incredible!!

Thanks – I am really scared that I am going to be/am a poor caregiver. Between my mom’s decline and several other things, now this too, I feel like I just am not very good at positivity, etc.

If he’s like the people I know, he lives his daily life but yes a hug and plug for retaining manhood in some sort helps.

Radiation it is, starting maybe in December. In a few weeks they’ll do another psa, and if the number is still doubling there will be meds prior to radiation. DH has another dr appt in October, where a schedule and details will be worked out; I also expect a return visit to the radiation oncologist who we found lacking in empathy but it is what it is.
