How many times have we heard or read the transcripts of 911 calls where the caller is screaming that it is an emergency and the 911 operator does nothing but say “calm down” for the first minute of the call?

The social worker gave the facts up front in a calm and crystal clear manner. If she had been talking to someone with a modicum of brains they would have dispatched a car immediately.

I’ve always thought that the Petit case was grossly mishandled by the Cheshire police. I hate to think of Hayley struggling to free herself and succeeding, and fighting her way to the top of the stairs, while those idiots stood around outside and the house burned.

I didn’t realize that Haley did that…did that come out in the trial? That whole case makes me sick. Thank God the killers were sentenced to death…even if it takes many years for it to happen…such vermin do not deserve to die a natural death.

And…yes…what kind of cops stand around waiting outside when they know for sure that people are in danger inside. At least they could have used some kind of loud-speaker and lied to the killers and said that the house was surrounded and to come out.

It’s worse. The murderers fled in a car and crashed a block away and STILL the police didn’t enter the house–or call the fire department. You would think that the instant the two perps were seen fleeing, SOMEONE would have rushed the house. They might have been able to save Hayley, at least.

Hayley was a rower, a recruited athlete at Dartmouth. She was a strong girl, and fought for her life. But received no help from the Keystone Kops of Cheshire.

Oh my…I’m just sick. So, she wasn’t found dead tied to the bed (as I thought)? Did she die of smoke inhalation at the top of the stairs?

i still can’t figure out what took so LONG to get SWAT… since the mom was able to “get thru” to the bank of the situation AND (I think) that she and the driver didn’t go straight home, but stopped to get gas before returning home…Or am I mixed up?

When Dr. Petit is shown on TV, I don’t know how this dear man gets out of bed each day knowing what his family endured (I know he was beaten horribly), but to know that your beloved wife and daughters were killed and in that horrible way would just make a person lose their will to live.

I recently read an article that Dr. Petit is engaged. I feel so sorry for that man and am glad that he can find some degree of happiness in his life again even though it doesn’t take away the pain that will continue to endure.

I also did not know she got to the top of the stairs. That case has haunted me since the day it happened. I am glad that Dr. Petit is engaged and maybe even planning to have more kids (the article I read mentioned that). His late wife’s family is behind him 100%.

Yes…I had heard that Dr. Petit is engaged. I’m glad that he has the will to keep going. I just can’t imagine the haunting nightmares this dear man must have.
