Hi, i’m at peer advisor at Pitt. Since you are already accepted in Arts & Sciences, you have to stay there for now. But if you are interested in transferring to Swason School of Engineering, Arts & Sciences can prepare you for that.

Make sure that your advisor knows that you are interested in transferring to engineering so that they can enroll you in the right classes when you get here. Before you can even be considered for admission into Swanson, you need to complete a set of courses…such as Chem, Calc, Bio, etc… (I don’t know the entire list). It normally takes a year to complete those first year engineering requirements. After you complete those, you can apply for admission into Swanson. However, you aren’t guarenteed admission into Swanson even after you complete those classes. They have to decide whether to admit you or not. So it’s important to do well! The first year curriculum for engineering is definitely a challenge.
