switching from Classical Voice to MT, need advice

@lyricmezzomom–You mentioned OKCU in passing. Have you looked at them in depth? They encourage all performance majors (acting, mt, vocal performance) to audition for all shows–opera, musicals, straight plays. I was very impressed with their focus on classical training and their facilities. D20 had the opportunity through her voice teacher (who has a friend on faculty at OKCU) to take a master class from someone on the vocal faculty. Even if your DD didn’t get accepted to the MT degree, as a VP major she would have the opportunity to do musicals. They do I think six musicals/operas per academic year plus numerous straight plays. In addition, you get the scholarship offer with the admission to the BM program, so you have all the knowledge at once. Academic award + talent scholarship=reasonably priced college cost for us at OKCU. (Daughter auditioned as MT and VP in November but was accepted only into VP–for which she is thrilled!) I understand totally being protective of daughter’s vocal chords! My kiddo only applied to MT at OKCU. She is either a VP or BFA Theatre applicant everywhere else.
