<p>You can get PHY 9A, CHE 2A, and MAT 21A out of the way in fall quarter (by the way, you need to take the chemistry and math placement exams to get into CHE 2A and MAT 21A. I believe both are online; information on the math placement test can be found [url=<a href=“https://www.math.ucdavis.edu/undergrad/math_placement]here[/url”>Math Placement :: math.ucdavis.edu]here[/url</a>] and information on the chemistry placement test can be found [url=<a href=“http://chemistry.ucdavis.edu/Undergraduate/ChemPlacement.html]here[/url”>Placement Requirements]here[/url</a>]. Since you need to have completed 21A, B, and C before you can apply to change your major into the College of Engineering, and it would take you a full school year to complete the course, you wouldn’t be able to apply to change majors until your second year. </p>
<p>I am not in the College of Engineering, but I believe as long as you fulfill the requirements, you’re good to go. It’s MUCH easier to switch into a different major/college than the one you were accepted to once you’re actually a UCD student. I have never heard of anyone not getting their major change request fulfilled without a good reason (such as a low GPA–you can’t switch majors if your GPA is below 2.0).</p>
