What is an impacted major and how does it affect my chances of getting into engineering?
Student demand exceeds program capacity in six of our undergraduate engineering majors and these majors have been designated as impacted:

Bioengineering
Bioengineering: biotechnology
Computer science
Computer engineering (CSE department)
Computer engineering (ECE department)
Electrical engineering

“Impacted Majors” are majors to which, owing to limited departmental resources, more students apply than can be accepted. Applicants to impacted majors must go through a secondary screening process in addition to the UCSD Admissions Office Comprehensive Review.

Straight from the Jacobs School of Engineering website…

Just because it is impacted does not mean it is impossible to get in.

So EE is still impacted…trust me, i go to ucsd for that major
