Tablet or Laptop

Since I’m going to take an online class and will also be traveling to New York. I was wondering if online classes would work on a tablet ? Or should i just lug around my laptop ?

It would definitely be easier on a laptop.

A laptop is significantly better than a tablet for online classes, from my experience. I find it much faster and easier to type responses on a physical keyboard rather than a touchscreen one. But of course, your mileage may vary.

Laptop. Tablets are primarily for media consumption - while some work can be produced with the aid of a bluetooth keyboard on an iPad or similar device, it isn’t nearly as dynamic as a laptop which can create files and produce work that would be significantly more difficult on a tablet.

@Nihilunt How is online classes ? I’ve never really had one before and i was wondering what it was like ?

Why not both? I have a laptop that also becomes a tablet. http://www.samsung.com/global/ativ/ativtab3.html</a>
Comes with a keyboard that you can attach/detach. Really convenient.

@AnImpAffliction‌ Mine isn’t like that plus it doesn’t have flash or java would that be a problem for me ?

@JennySimi345‌, they’re not as different as you would think. I’m taking English and Latin online and they’re pretty easy. You have to be self-motivated, though! Usually the teachers don’t require you to log on everyday, but don’t become complacent. Make sure to stay on top of your work and turn in assignments when they’re due. I’m sure you’ll be fine.

@Nihilunt Thanks for the info ! But i think we are taking different kinds of of online classes. I’m going to take a summer online class, which i heard you have to sign in everyday. Or are they the same ? Oh well i’ll find out soon anyways :P

I mean, I was only suggesting that if you’re looking for a new device. Your laptop should do…but not having Java/Flash might be an issue. I don’t know how your online class works so I can’t say, but if you can talk to someone who knows about it, see if it requires Java/Flash.

But if you are looking for a new device, I highly recommend the Samsung ATIV. Although the app store is a little lacking, the multi-tasking and stylus features and others really make it awesome.

@AnImpAffliction‌ Ok thanks for the advice :D

I have taken two online classes. They are a waste of time. I learned nothing and was able to complete the courses with A’s in about two weeks. I don’t know if it is different with other schools, but I happily took some useless required courses online without any challenge.

No problem. I’m not exactly sure how your classes work, but you’ll probably get more information about them as summer nears.

Yeah. I suppose it really comes down to which classes you’re taking and where you’re taking them at. I have dual enrollment classes, so I’m taking basic 101 courses (pushovers). They’re required for other dual enrollment courses I’m taking in the fall, though, so I thought I may as well get them over and done with.
