Tablet recommendation for not-so-tech-savvy mom

The bamboo that comes with surface is a nice feature. You can get a bamboo for iPad, too.

Samsung makes a tablet that comes with a stylus.

OP here. The general consensus (virtually 100% of the people I have talked with in person) is iPad. I will go look at them this weekend to see if I want the big one or the mini. I can get the iPad Air 2 64gb for $549. I don’t think I want to spend the extra $100 for 128gb. If I order it online, are all “iPad Air 2 64gb” tablets the same or do they dress them out differently, like cars?

You will be happy with your IPAD Air 2. LIke I said, you will tire very easily with the mini and wish you had bought the regular. I have both and on springbreak am taking the regular with me. The mini reminds me of a big cell phone now.

You can get different colors of iPad Air2 but that’s it. Rather than Applecare, look at SquareTrade: better coverage and cheaper. 3 years complete coverage including accidents is $109 or $129 depending on if you want a deductible or not.

A co-worker says the 16G is all she has and it is big enough for anything she does. I will not put many apps on it, except for a few games. Also, I’ve learned there is very little noticeable difference from the Air and Air 2. Decisions, decisions.

I second the Squaretrade suggestion. We have used it a few times and reimbursement/replacement was a simple, good process.

Sign up for their emails - they sent out % off coupons all the time!

I don’t think anyone has mentioned this, but if you are not tech-savvy and don’t want to spend a lit, consider a kindle fire hd.

We like our Samsung Galaxy 8". We really struggled to pick which size. Eventually we decided that 10" was too big to be easily portable and 7" was too small.

For us, the 8" is “just right”. As a happy surprise it fits in DH’s fleece jacket pocket. It also fits in the outside pocket of my purse.

Original poster here. I just came back from vacation where I discovered that my 4±year-old phone is pretty much useless as far as email and Facebook, etc. I could make and receive calls and texts, but since I am paying for a fairly large data plan (shared with son), I think I have decided to wait on the tablet and get a large phablet instead. Part of this decision is my inner practical voice telling me that the tablet would just be a toy whereas a phone is more of a necessity. I am thinking of the iPhone 6+ (might as well get the latest since I keep phones forever.) Anyone have one of these phones?

Just bought the iPhone 6. Did not get the plus. May still get a tablet later. I have had wireless service for 17+ years and this is my 4th phone. I keep them forever. lol.

Hope you like it music! I am very happy with my 6. 6+ = too much phone in size for me. The 6 with the text enlarged a bit is a big improvement for my eyes over my previous 4!

I just got the iPhone 6 when my 4 died 2 weeks ago. I love it!! Also have an iPad mini which is several years old - love that too for use on the couch, watching netflix, etc. I like the smaller size and I like that I can put it in my purse. I have a Logitech flip-over case which I also love (no keyboard.) Now that I have the 6 phone, there is some overlap in uses for the two devices - but the phone in no way replaces the iPad mini for me.

I debated between the 6 and plus, but because I needed my reading glasses for both of them, I decided to get the smaller one since it fit in my purse better. Been too busy to really play with it today, but I like it a lot so far.

I have a OnePlus One 64gb phone which is an android that is the same size as Apple’s 6+. We were a bit apprehensive about the larger size (our prior phone was the iPhone 5). All 4 of us have gotten used to it–me. H, S, D. It was $349 + postage.

I also have an iPad mini with the Logitech keyboard/case. It’s my favorite and a great device to use on the go. I also have the Microsoft Surface Pro 3. It’s fun but am still learning how to use all its features.

We use the Kindle Fire HDs the least of our electronics. Somehow, it just seems best for only reading.

I think I use my iPad mini the most of all my devices. It’s a 16gb and I haven’t run out of space (I don’t store videos on it).
