Tacky wedding things.

My counters are a complete mess: toaster, electric teakettle, food scraps bin, Nespresso, and fruit basket. I use all of these daily! Every time the fruit basket gets touched, you bet the food scraps bin gets action, too!

Should we start a “what sits on your kitchen counter” thread??

I got S1 and DIL a Kitchenaid for Chanukah/Christmas last year. DIL is an avid baker and she wanted the lift-type bowl. She said that for the same bowl size, the lift-type ones are more powerful than the tilt-head ones. I got her the one she requested, and she’s been quite happy with it.

Get the one that’s requested.

I have the smaller bowl type. 30 years, used at least once a week for brownies or banana bread, good as new!

Everything is out. It started with the knife sharpener - I realized I never used it if it wasn’t easy to get at. I am a pretty serious cook and cook a real meal at least four times a week, so everything gets a lot of use.

This is the one I want. A stand/hand combo mixer with 850 positive reviews that costs less than $30. Hmmmmm, I should have checked the prices yesterday.

Consolation–maybe they didn’t see the note from Amazon. The note is usually on the invoice on the package which they may not have looked at closely.

Yes, the note is tiny and boring and doesn’t look like a gift note at all.

My gm had a KA she was going to give me, then gave to someone else. Mostly for bread. I make do for most tasks with a hand blender and do bread the old fashioned way. But what I really want is a gizmo designed to perfectly whip cream. (KA has an attachment.) I can do it, but the giz is more efficient.

Oh, my counters are truly painful…everyone comes home and drops their stuff RIGHT.THERE.

Just thought some of the people posting on this thread would be interested to know that Kitchenaid has a 7-quart copper bowl mixer, which can be yours for the (low, low) price of $999.95 plus tax. Until the sale ends. When the price goes up to $1099.00 plus tax.

Incidentally, I have a very old hand-held mixer, which is fine for the amount of mixing I do.

If anyone really, really wants to give a unique Kitchen Aid mixer as a wedding gift, check this out:

It is a local artist who specializes in painting mixers. I kid you not. I want sunflowers on my grey one.

@QuantMech , that was just kind of mean! (7 quart! Copper!)

Bunsen, thanks for that link. Those painted mixers are amazing. I always wondered where The Pioneer Woman got hers – now I know!

I’ve wanted those painted mixers since I first saw that site. Thanks (not!) for reminding me. :((

I saw those painted mixers a few years ago. They are so cool. Think the ones I saw were a different company.

Oooooohhhh, painted Kitchen-aide mixers make my heart go pitty-pat.

I love that painted mixer!!

I use an immersion blender for whipped cream.

Hmm, I have an immersion blender. The KA attachment is more like a wide, thin whisk. Well, maybe another purchase spared. Thx.
