Only the Jews can make the JFK area a culinary tourist attraction. Glad you enjoyed. I had a slice of Philly Fluff today at the office. Some cruel person brought some leftovers (how is that even possible).
On the same street as Ben’s, about a mile east are two other terrific foods stops–The Knish Nosh and Andre’s Hungarian Bakery. They are across the street from each other.

choco - glad things went well ! sorry about the pastrami being Hebrew national - I guess the Woodro has gone down a bit in authenticity. I am sure you will be pleased with Ben’s. Glad you enjoyed everything else and the traffic was ok.
Re: Pastrami King. Sadly its gone in Queens, but there is a “Pastrami Queens” on Long Island ! Its good.
now…in Brooklyn there’s the Mill Basin Deli — in Manhattan, 2nd avenue deli…
Actually from those places or Bens I bet u can get delivery, so you won’t have to wait for JFK pickups.
Hope your son is having a good trip!
If you ever have a craving, Ben’s (the one with several locations) and Bagel Boss will ship anything. They pack with dry ice if needed. Ben’s also delivers locally with an ambulance (for the chicken soup). I kid you not.

Shhhh! I’m not going to any other places except Ben’s Best next week (!). And as far as delivery goes everyone: No, no, no! If I start to have it delivered, it wouldn’t be a special treat! I am only going because I’ll be in the neighborhood. Otherwise I will not order it to be shipped. I gotta draw the line somewhere! Chardo: It looks like Ben’s is further away than Ben’s Best, true? I looked at the Bayside location. Anyway, I’ll go to where I’ve eaten before. Again, they don’t open up till 9am, so S & I will be waiting around. Maybe we’ll have breakfast at a diner first & then head over…depends on how long his jaunt through customs takes. But S1 got in and out of customs rather quickly when he went…so we’ll see. Since he’s on a group trip, it will probably not take very long. He’ll be SO excited I’ll be getting more pastrami…he was sad that I was picking some up AFTER dropping him off at the airport…now he’ll get to enjoy it with us!
Thanks again everyone!
Ben’s Best was listed among the top 10 Jewish Delis in NYC alongside Katz’s, Carnegie, etc. Thoughts of their pastrami and corned beef are already making my mouth water.
I enjoyed their Thanksgiving turkey some years ago. Also, enjoy Knish Nosh and Andre’s Hungarian Bakery for the occasional treat.
All good choices.
FYI, if you’re near downtown Brooklyn, an absolute favorite is Shelsky’s, a deli specializing in really lovely and well-sourced fish and fish spreads. It’s on Court Street opposite Trader Joe’s at Atlantic. And you can often park on Atlantic.
