<p>I spent a summer in Mexico when I was in college. They couldn’t pronounce my first name there - just didn’t fit into their language. I changed my name for the summer.</p>
<p>My D is now in college and her roommate is from Hong Kong. She goes by an American name and has for several years (she went to boarding school in the US). My D said she can’t pronounce her roommate’s “real” name, even though she’s tried.</p>
