TAMU Holistic review candidates Class of 2022

Im trying to find information on how PSA works with financial aid. It seems some of these system schools have financial aid deadlines that have passed or are very rapidly approaching. Any thoughts?

I just called the prospective student office in Houston, and I told them all my information and he said he could still see my “change major” on his end and that a decision was still being made. Then he told me that they did plan to have March 1 the decision date but due to delays people should see decisions by Friday or Monday.

If I am an IB Diploma student, will my credit hours transfer into a PSA school if that is what I’m offered?
I can no longer see the change major tab.

@tyra2k8 what did you ask them when you called?

Change major button is gone for me too. If PSA is in my future, then I guess I’m taking the Galveston route. Out of all the other schools I’ve been accepted to so far, TAMUG has offered me the most money.

@Gmanmom123 I am not sure about something like Engineering but my son was a Sport Management major and when he got to A&M, he was already considered part of the program. He never had to re-apply or fill out anymore applications. The PSA office at his other school was always in contact with him. They met with him (and all the PSA students) at their registration and made sure that they had exactly the classes they need to make the transition. TAMU-CS walked him through his New Student Conference when he got here and made sure he got what he needed to blend in effortlessly. And I loved the fact he had 30 students in those freshman classes instead of 300.

@2xAggieMom - sorry if you already stated this, but which system school did your son attend?

Also, anyone with PSA experience: is there any difficulty handling AP credit? PSA website says you have to complete 24 hours at the partner school, but I assume this would be upper-level coursework if we claim the AP credit. He worked hard to get 30+ hours credit, so we won’t let that go to waste or throw a wrench into his long term plans.

On the website reading about PSA says: Students must respond to the PSA offer via the Applicant Information System (AIS) by May 1. The priority deadline to accept your PSA offer is March 15.

So therefore I guess they need to get the PSA offers out so people can turn around and accept by March 15th because that is a pretty quick turn around.

Its hard to fathom that all that is left is PSA. Our gang that applied all had 3.96 pr above, steller LOC and extra cir all over the place. They havent heatd back either… all in review (I know i know everyone is qualified)… just looking to give comfort to those who really want this. Good luck!

I’m sure they have more types of admissions left. This is just probably the PSA wave. I’m also sure they wish they could give everyone full admission but there’s just not enough room.

@CyRanchXfer My son went to Corpus Christi. He did not like it there- mostly because he wanted to be at TAMU-CS but he made a great group of PSA friends who kept each other motivated to get to College Station. 3 of his PSA friends became his best friends (like forever, be in each other’s weddings friends) and they roomed together when they got to CS. They also made up the majority of their intramural football team when they got to A&M. He was disappointed when he didn’t get straight in to College Station but looking back, I consider it one of the great blessings of his life. He and his friends all attended each other’s ring ceremonies and graduations and they all are die-hard Aggies with diplomas that say Texas A&M.

I just asked them what it meant if my the change major was gone on Howdy portal and he told me that in addition to it’s pretty much too late to change because it wouldn’t really affect your chances of getting in at this moment.

What does a priority deadline of March 15th mean? Priority for what? Seems like if that is what is about to go out they are not giving students a lot of time to decide on where to go and what to do.

@leapaw I had the same question about the priority deadline myself. I just can’t believe this might mean PSA. After waiting for so long, I guess I expected more.

Hope they wrap it up soon then!

I’m sorry if this has already been said, but do some students STILL have the “change major” button on the howdy portal?

@tyra2k8 What is interesting is that they have always said your major doesn’t make a difference in their admission decision. I honestly think they are winging it sometimes. When I called CS today about the “Change Major” tab, she put me on hold and came back with the standard “1-2 weeks” answer. Wonder if they would extend the priority decision deadline as a courtesy to allow time to research and visit alternate pathways?

Is anyone else’s Manage Applications site a big gray blank space now?

@MominPlano we have a gray box that says “You do not have any transfer audit reports available at this time.” I think it has always been there.
