TAMU Holistic review candidates Class of 2022

My daughter also just received PSA. She is very upset at the moment so we will give her time then need to redirect. I feel like we wasted a lot of time waiting for this outcome. None of the other campuses interest her and I don’t like the idea of going somewhere half hearted only to transfer. Very disappointing to say the least. Seems like we could have been told this a month ago and would be much further ahead.

@kmcpty sorry it’s not the answer y’all wanted. The year will fly by and omg park west is amazing. She’ll love it!!!

I decided to put aside my ego and accept the PSA offer. The way I see it, it’s only a minor speed bump and a year later I’ll be in CSTAT. Good luck to everyone and thanks for all the support!

@2xAggieMom Click on my name and it will take you to a new page. Under my name will be a “message” button. Click that and it will send me a PM. THANKS!

@aggiehope22 When you say OSU are you talking about Oklahoma State?
That is a GREAT school with almost as much school spirit as A&M with a third of the students. I hear homecoming is quite the amazing experience and like any college town, make your reservations yesterday. He may end up loving it there - Go Pokes -

Hi guys!! I was offered psa last night and i have decided to go to Rellis or blinn for a year and transfer into A&M. If any girls are interested in being roommates somewhere in Northgate message me on Instagram @alliezarzour !! It’s been a crazy journey with this application process but i know i belong in aggieland!!

@ArrowGreen, best of luck to you in your journey as an Aggie. You seem to be a very mature, level headed young person and I know you will be a great asset to Aggieland!

Have been lurking as we have been waiting. Youngest and I met with my older son’s advisor this summer. We knew the youngest would be a holistic admit due to class ranking. Advisor straight up asked why not just send him to Blinn and apply to transfer for Spring 19 semester. She said for transfer applicants, the majors/departments get to see them and say yes, we want him or her, whereas they do not do the same with freshman applicants.

I would also recommend talking to an advisor in the department in which your student plans on majoring. My oldest’s advisor was the most helpful person - said if the youngest didn’t get in and decided to do PSA or other route, to email her his class schedule so she could confirm all classes would transfer and work towards his intended major in College Station. I don’t know if the advisors in Mays or the engineering departments work that way, but the College of Ag advisors have been outstanding to my current student, and my Gateway admit.

@sotxag college of ag is definitely the best followed closely by liberal arts. The advisors are extremely helpful. Great advice you gave!!!

Is anyones howdy down? We want to at least see what schools are defaulted

Received PSA last night.

My question to anyone that has an answer is that would it still be possible to make it to Mays from starting at PSA? That seems like an impossible climb since PSA doesn’t offer business but I’m trying to decide whether or not to accept admittance to Texas Tech business school, where I have scholarship money and can start business right off the bat, or take the PSA route and hope to get to Mays.

Leaning towards Tech, but would love to be proven wrong.

@Kuehne410 Mays is extremely competitive even within Tamu main campus as a change of major. My son got into tamu but in Econ not business. We are touring uark this weekend since he got business honors there. If he goes to tamu he’ll do a minor in business if he isn’t able to change major as a sophomore.

If business is your goal, I’d do Tech. If tamu is your goal I would find a back up major you love just in case!!

I think I’ve decided to go to Tech for a semester and try to transfer into A&M in the Spring. If anyone else is thinking the same, we should talk.

@Kuehne410 I would do Tech business, too! It seems to me that they have a good business school, right? Do it big if/when you get there!

@AggieMomhelp
I’m currently in the same boat as your son. I was offered full admission to my second choice major but my heart is set on business. My second choice major isn’t something I want to do, I just chose it because I needed a second choice. I’m not a huge fan of economics but I’m thinking of changing my major to economics so that when I change major for Mays it will be a smoother process, that’s what I think? I got into the Texas State business school but I’m set on wanting to go to A&M and work hard to get into Mays.

Please let me know what y’all think. I also applied to UT but got capped. The only thing that kept me from being an academic adtmit were my test scores.

Is there a business application area you are interested in? Food systems, agriculture, maritime, music, …? Or are you looking for finance, marketing, international business, …?

Do you believe that you could transfer in the spring? What do you think about your UT CAP schools offered?

@AnimalLover445 if your plan is to transfer to TAMU you will need 24 transferable hours and a minimum 2.5 to be considered. A 2.5 does not guarantee admittance to the major of your choice. Each department makes the decision and you compete for a slot. Why would you pay tech prices when you know you will transfer? Go to Blinn in Bryan and live in CS and save some money. Blinn and TAMU work closely together. Check out the transfer page and call the university and tell them of your goals. The department you wish to major in will help, you get there. http://admissions.tamu.edu/transfer/apply

Transfer to business at some schools is notoriously difficult. If you want business, then you need a viable plan, and that might be at another school. UT Dallas has a named business school. What about working toward a transfer into UT Dallas? I am just trying to get a sense for what might work.
