Tasp 2007

Can anyone explain what TASP is? I am mostly interested in a summer science research type program.

Well first TASP is out of the question since you needed to have submitted your app a month ago. :-/

However if you are looking for science-y things, TASP wouldn’t have been the right program for you anyways. I would suggest RSI (but I believe that the app for that was due already as well) your best now is probably to do a summer session at a University.

It’s crazy that you need to start thinking about these summer programs in November, at least thats when most of the TASP applicants begun their application.

or you have people like me who find these things out halfway through january.

I go to a boarding school and it’s a bit hard for me to get outside transportation…do the tasp interviews have to be face-to-face? Or can they be over the phone?

I really have a faulty memory, and I’ve been losing out on sleep recently, so forgive me if this has been brought up before.

E-mail notifications were sent out the first week of March last year? Or when in March? Meaning we’re finding out part of the process relatively soon?

calculates how much time she has to anticipate/obsess/sporadically and frequently check e-mail

ekang, trust me if you live in the US in a some what civilized area you could get an actual interview. Your school or Telluride would be able to make accommodation’s to have it happen. you would want a personal interview, as I’m sure you would be at some disadvantage if you had a phone interview, obviously its not make or break but having that personal interaction is key. What boarding school you go to?

Aeshchina, last year they were sent out on March 3rd, so people are guessing Either the 2nd or the 5th(closest business days). So as in a week and half. o.O

GL y’all

Ekung, I go to boarding school too. I will probably just hop on the train to NYC (where I live) and do the interview there, then go back to school that evening or stay at my house.

I think I’ll retake the ACT (I’m already registered; school requirement) and for sure the SAT after some more math prep. If I can get the ACT up to 34 (I’m thinking fat chance with my math) I’ll probably stick with that, and if I can get my math grade up a bit I’ll break 2200, which is an acceptable score for Columbia (my top choice).

Oooh Columbia :D.
I just love New York City.

Where in NYC do you live? I had a brief tenure in Bushwick/Bed-Stuy over in Brooklyn. The grandma used to live there.

Last night I had a dream that Aida was my interviewer. It was pretty crazy, she took it an insult that I dressed up so nice, and said that Telluride was an expression of your true self and wearing what I was made me look boring, than she gave me a makeover. :stuck_out_tongue: Pretty ridiculous.

I also had a drea that to save money my family took out all the tile in our house and sold it back, so the floors and the showers. Sort of strange.

I just got home from the AMC B. Ergh. Do you guys do the AMC and stuff?

Wait like the math test?

Yeah

10char

I did the AMC 12 this year.

Haha, in addition to answering the minimum amount of questions possible, I also seemed to have gotten one of them wrong.

they did that at our school last week. I havent heard of the “AMC B” They just have like AMC 12, 11, 10, 9. like grade level. I heard it is really challenging.

You do well?

What exactly is the AMC?

As I can’t get above 640 on the SAT math section no matter how hard I try, I doubt it will be relevant for me. But still, what is it?

american math competition, i think. i don’t know anything about it, besides that it’s a little impossible. i’m a math dunce too, lol.

yup, corey, that sounds right. next friday or the following monday. gah. we have a little over a week… T_T

GAH.

I’m going to be in Spain, <3ing the Alhambra, but still! I hope they send us emails with confirmation (cross those fingahs) in addition to the mail; that way I can find out and not discourage them with the slowness of my response.

Most ppl found out by the email before the mail. No worries.

I like how we are all math dunces :-P

except lauren. =)

when do you hear back about interview notifications, corey?

I e-mailed to ask about when interview notifications are being sent and this is the reply I got in return:

"We will send out letters to all applicants around March 5. You can also
call us then to find out whether or not you are getting interviewed.

Ellen Baer"

the date is creeping up!

-heartattack-

i’ll be dreading that day.
