Tasp 2007

im so glad to hear your^ (corey i deduce…) interview was laidback! I remmber ppl saying the interview was “grueling” and “be ready to refute your points” kind of atmosphere… mine was pretty relaxed also… hey aida, is there a big disparity btwn the types of interviewers?

PS - Giantred - were the initials of ur interviewer S.S.?

Hmmm okay. I hope I get Jamba. I don’t think there’s anybody else in our region? Haha I would have thought anybody living in the Bay Area would have discovered this site :P

I’m getting excited! I have no idea where my interview is though, just emailed her about that.

ack! rejected to nj gov school!

uh-oh. since that was my other summer, non-TASP option, do you guys have any tips for still open programs i could apply to? i guess i should have had more backups since this is making me very nervous…

i know there are other threads for this, but i trust you all much more than random CCers. i’m looking for anything non-science and non-math, really… considering sending in a stupid application to one of those youth government/leadership/junior statesment things. Have also considered Oxbridge 2007 and did Harvard SSP last summer…

Thoughts? Words of comfort? Lol.

Dude, I’ll answer for Aida, heheheheh. My three interviewers were soooo different…one was an Asian kid who goes to MIT (and actually went to school with a Cornell II '06 kid). I thought he was hellza intense, he talked about playing violin in orchestra; it was only later that I found out he’s really silly. (Just like his Cornell II’er friend, heh.) He asked me questions like “So what, in your opinion, are the politics of memory?”

The other male was Jewish and quiet, he typed the notes and smiled sweetly. I don’t even remember anything else.

Then there was a lady who was really excited in my excitement for drama…she was really pretty and ethnic, ahahaha. Ha. I don’t remember anything else about her, either. But if you get at least one easygoing person, you is SET.

GOD, how does Aida manage this thread?? I can’t imagine getting on here all the time…it moves too fast…300 pages now, ***??

G’luck guys. gluckgluck

btw Corey you better know who this is
also why the hell you didn’t tell me how yo interview went

cdon -
TRASP 07 is going to Iraq for some backpacking, sightseeing, documentary-filming, and terrorista hunting adventures!
so yeah don’t worry about it

unfortunately we don’t have an LL Nunn, so travel expenses of around $2,000 + minimal living expenses for 6 weeks are up to the participants

the only requirement is being rejected from tasp, although THE COMMITTEE may give honorary rejectee status to qualified applicants

you’re all invited!

XDDD

Who’s the committee? Can I apply?

LOL, [edit:// (so corey can guess your name)], you had Globber as your interviewer???

oh man, iraq sounds so much fun, nate.

Dont get me wrong it was grueling and intellectual, just I had fun with it… lots of fun. IDK why it was so much fun, on 2nd though i probably should have been terrified. I’m still ridding the interview high, I really wished it was longer. (Shortest hour of my life)

GRACE EFFIN STATWICK… love. Aida+U+Me+Susan?+Phones=Tonight… holla?

Umm i dont think one of my interviewers initials was S.S…

Ooh now i get it. Roam I thought you were saying Globber was my interviewer.

Nate- HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

tako- I’m not sure I’m at liberty to tell you who the committee is. As far as applying, you don’t need to. Just talk to us if you get that (really well written) rejection letter in the mail. Good Luck! (lol. good luck getting into tasp too.)

Aaaahg, you’re so lucky Corey! Mine had a very intense atmosphere (which could have been my perception; I’m pretty laid back), but I walked away being completely impressed by my interviewers and their ability to debate circles around me. Past TASPers are really smart. o_o;;

It made me want to go even more…if that’s possible?

ahh of course Iris.

Did you feel like they were trying to put you in an inferior position?
Because I believe why my interview was so “laid back” was that they showed me a lot of respect and it wasn’t as much an interrogation is it was a friendly conversation.
–The funny thing was we were talking and I was trying to answer a question about Oprah and Jay-Z (I know…) but anyways this friend of one of the interviewers comes out of nowhere and jumps on her to scare her. :stuck_out_tongue: I got a chuckle out of that.

On a more somber note at 7:52 this morning I came down from my TASS interview high :-[ So I got up at 4am this morning and did 2 chem labs and a wksht. (Estimated at about 300 points.) So then when its time to leave for school I sit waiting for my mom for 10 minutes and I end up getting to school 2 minutes late, the story ends with me not being able to turn any of my work in so that’s a 0/300. My teacher who used to give me daily readings and movies about black chemist now shows no sympathy. [Inserts a proverb about not judging its book by the cover—or the first 5 chapters for that matter.] Im over it though. Spring break is on the horizon.

Dude…that sucks. I’m sending you consolation over the internet.

Wow, sounds like people have been having pretty good interviews! Great job to everyone! Mine is tomorrow, and I’m feeling pretty anxious, but especially quite excited. :D

Ick, chemistry. That’s a cruel teacher right there. You haven’t had spring break yet? We’re already back in school after break! Enjoy it while it lasts. I know I did.

Good luck, good luck to all! [well technically I don’t believe in luck, but that’s beside the point] Now the waiting part is the hardest of all…

AGHH YOU GOT THAT RIGHT DAEN.

seems like May will never get here. i can’t wait until i have that rejection/acceptance letter in my hands… but then… that moment of truth is gonna be SO extreme.

haha & this thread DOES move superfast… lets guestimate how many pages there’ll be by May… =P

tako - you’ll only need to apply if you get accepted to tasp, or if you never applied to it in the first place
rejectees are automatically accepted

and THE COMMITTEE is secret - that’s why it’s in all caps, obviously

TRASP, is it? I want in.

I’m sorry I didn’t put THE COMMITTEE in capitals the first time I wrote it =(

And if you get accepted to tasp why would want to apply to TRASP? Oh sorry, I’m doing harm to the organization! EVERYONE should apply to trasp even if you get accepted to tasp. EVERYONE knows TRASP is better. ;)

Completely off this TRASP topic for a second…

There are 9691 posts in the summer forum. This TASP topic is about 4500 of those. =P
