Tasp 2007

780? Ha ha ha. I wish.

Not even close. Well Math IIC I aced, Lit I totally failed. RAWR.

I guess a retake is in order. My parents would be happy with me attending my state school, too! Except that my state school = Cal or UCLA. Lol. So it’s kind of unfortunate. Oh wells.

Oh c’mon! UCLA is awesome and (sorry for me being so CA illiterate) what’s Cal? Berkeley?

And if your parents would be happy with you attending your state school, then what’s up with them getting angry over your last (I think?) 740 in SAT II? That’s a good score, even for UCLA! …or maybe they’re like my dad who’s weird. :P

And why would it be unfortunate? I think UCLA, at least, is AWESOME. (It’s more about the LA part though, lol).

I’m retaking too… argh. ;)

yes and Cal is Berkley.

I realize I couldnt get into Cal or LA, probably not even UCSD (San Diego). :stuck_out_tongue:
They care about GPA to much.

What’s your dream college, Corey? If you don’t mind me asking, that is. ;)

Awww Corey I’m sure they’d love you.

Well, I don’t want to stay in California. I’ve decided that UMich is where I’m going for college (unless by some miracle, I both get into UChicago, AND get a scholarship). Haha and I haven’t even been there yet…regardless, I’m sure I’ll love it. :)

And UCLA and UC Berkeley care alot about numbers, like Corey said. :frowning: But it’s okay, I don’t want to go to either (or UCSD) because like 200/600 students attend a UC. Grossness! I want to go to a school where I’m all alone :)

lol, tako! I’d think most people would like to be with their friends - but tako isn’t “most people”. ;)

I don’t want to go to my state school either, mainly because I really want to go to a school in the NE coast… that’s where America began and (more importantly) where EVERYTHING seems occuring. I want my college years to be in an exciting, buzzling city! XD

I want to go to Georgetown SFS because I have had a revelation that I want to be the President… well aim high and work down to like ambassador or some other appointed position, would be so much fun.

Or I am really excited about Northwestern, but we will see how that goes when I visit 2mrw. Or Columbia or NYU because it is in New York

And Eugene Lang School of Liberal Arts, is definitely a safety.

But yeah Gtown would have to be my dream school. I am really excited about college and all and its nice to be interested in some places, but I am not freaking out over anything— EEEK I haven’t takes SAT prep yet.

Oh and Tako I wouldn’t love them. :-P

I would definitely consider applying to all of those + Michigan (I would hope to get some sort of merit money when in my TASS acceptance letter it said UMich will try as hard as they can in regard to scholarships and financial aid to make your attendance at their institutions possible)

ugh, i’d hate to go to college with a bunch of people from high school. i need to like get away. too bad my parents want me to stay in the northeast coast. the only schools i’m seriously considering that are not in the northeast are Pomona, Rice, and UChicago.

and SAT IIs… um, let’s not talking about those… heheh. looks like i’ll be taking two more in october.

Georgetown is very nice… XD

It’s so awesome you guys have such diverse interests regarding colleges. :)

And roam, how can you NOT want to stay in northeast coast!? :open_mouth: That’s like the best region in the entire country! I love snow, by the way.

I’m with Roam ^^

It’s unfortunate, though. This year nobody went to (or even applied, I think) to UChicago. But a few of my peers are falling in love with it this year :frowning: And I’m like NO MY DREAM SCHOOL GET AWAY. And omgosh, the MOST annoying girl in the world (who wants Harvard) wants UChicago. When she told me this, I was just like, no. No. No. And one of my best friends wants it, too. And I was like, cool, but inside I was screaming get awayyy. Haha. I’m possessive of things I don’t even own :(

I’m liking Rice too, roam. Pomona, however, is not on my list (California? Grossness.)

oh, i don’t mind the northeast as far as college is concerned, i just don’t want to stay in my state. lol. the majority of the schools i like are in the northeast with the exception of those three.

awwww tako i feel the same way whenever random people are like “hey, maybe i’ll apply to chicago as a safety?” boo those people.

I see! Good choice, roam, GOOOOOOOD choice. ;)

All the schools on my list except my state school is in the northeast region. XD I’ll be so sad if I got rejected to all of them and had to attend my state. :(

And gosh tako, you will SO get into Chicago. You’re the Chicago-type!

lol mintie. where do you want to go?

I know! These people don’t realize what an amazing school Chicago is. It’s definitely NOT a safety at all.

What makes me even more upset is when I go look at the Chances forum, and it seems that every single Ivy Leaguer applies to Chicago. It’s obvious that if they get into an Ivy League, they’re not going to go to Chicago, so why do they even bother applying? It ruins the chances of people who actually want to go there, can’t they see that? :frowning: And apparently UChicago has turned into a New Ivy League, so people just put it on their list without even realizing what kind of school it is. I was reading a thread in the UChicago forum where a guy had a whole bunch of Ivies on his list and UChicago, and was like “Do I have a chance at UChicago? I want to go there, but I don’t want grade deflation.” And I was like, if you don’t want grade deflation then just take it off your list! Gosh. Grade grubbers.

lol, I’m one of those stereotypical people who wants to get into Ivys. It’s mainly because those are the only colleges that’s willing to give me need-based financial aid.

Oh well, I might as well reveal (lol) that I’m an international. I don’t want to stake anything on merit aid, so it really narrows down my college choices. I’m not applying to NYU for instance (though I really wanted to apply) because their financial aid policy for international students is really bad.

And I REALLY need fiancial aid. There’s no way I can pay for college otherwise. :)

And lol deflation! Yeah… those people totally don’t deserve Chicago.

…But they are being practical, if they want to get into graduate/medical/business/law school. ;)

I’m an international too, Mintie, so we’re in the same boat  Actually I don’t need much financial aid. But I want it :frowning: Scholarships, woot!

And it’s okay that you’re an Ivy Leaguer because at least you have a legit reason. I hate when people post lists like:

Ivies
UChicago
MIT
Stanford
Georgetown
…

when it’s obvious that all they want is a prestigious college. I mean, the Ivies are SOO different from each other. What about fit? What about size? Atmosphere? Everything? Goodness gracious!

lol word.

UChicago you have to work… It is definitely harder than Harvard or those other Ivies. It seriously just takes so much effort and passion to succeed there. Thats why it takes a certain kid to do UChicago.

My mom was telling me one of her philosophy classes was the hardest thing she has ever done and she read everything and tried hard but she got a D-------- in that class (yes that many minuses) and it was because she did the reading and tried that she didnt fail. Definitely not a place where you can be la la la la la, I am going to become an investment banker and do nothing for this world but I will make money doing it.

Wait is the girl you are talking about Tako the girl I saw at the college consortium and is Indian and intensely obsessed with college prestige.

Thanks, tako, and I knew you were an international. And you will TOTALLY get scholarships - perhaps in the form of a TA branch house invitation? ;)

And I get annoyed too when people’s only criteria seems to be prestige. I mean, I see WHY, but it’s still kind of sickening. :frowning: It’s like the corporate world… ;)

Wait, Corey, your mom went to Chicago!? I, for some really random reason, though she went to Harvard. Hmm…

Oh no not her. She’s actually quite nice (although yes, obsessed with college prestige) so I’m good friends with her  However, I don’t think she liked UChicago (thank goodness!) so hopefully she won’t even apply  I think she wants Upenn…finance, etc.

And wow, I want UChicago even more now. Just hearing about how hard I’ll have to work makes me want to go there even more, haha. I wonder if I will fit in though. I like the thought of having to work my butt off, but I’m not sure if I’ll like it when I’m actually working my butt off. Hmm. Lol. At least nobody at Chicago will be a grade grubber :)
