TASP 2019

Hi, I just got this account, but throughout my application process, I’ve got some tips and helpful information form this thread. I submitted my application by the deadline, I think I did fairly well but I didn’t have much time to review my essays, so there could be some mistakes. Otherwise to all the other people that applied, maybe we should start a GroupMe or something and keep track, and see who gets accepted and stuff.

Hey yall i just found this forum and it’s regretful that i did…

i found this tasp opportunity in novemebr and was so excited to fill it out but for some reason i jsut kept thinking the deadline was february 22 instead of january

misreading the due date
and then continued to fill out my parts and check the website to make sure it all aligned but it just slipped from my mind that the due date is not february but january bc i didnt know. and then i checked the surveymonkey link today just to send it in “early” and ofc it was closed so that’s when i realized.

i sent tasp an email about this explaining why i didnt submit, and i sincerely apologized.
This is a dream summer opportunity and I know how selective it is agh. And it’s my last summer before college…
This may seem like a ■■■■■ question but do you think they’ll still let me submit? I’m so regretful and berating myself for being so dumb not to check the website. and I just want anything to be able to compete…

@starrangele02 damn that sucks. they’re probably in the middle of reading apps right now - but honestly idek. ill be praying 4 u. have u finished all of your essays and short answers at least?

yep I did I just have to send them but… still waiting on their reply
thanks tho! appreciate it~

Geez Im really sorry that this happened… hopefully they still allow you to submit. I do know that they have already begin reading applications and starting reading sessions via location… I think you should keep following up though and express the sincere misunderstanding.

@starrangele02 Hey there! I’m so sorry to hear that happened :frowning: If they don’t respond within the next few days, definitely send a follow-up email, and, just in case, it might be a good idea to get all the application materials together. Do you have access to this year’s prompts, or are they gone now that the application is closed? I can send them to you if need be, so just in case they do say yes, you can quickly get everything submitted; letting them know that you have your application ready might also inspire them to give you a little bit of leeway.

Also, don’t worry if they say no! TASP is a wonderful experience, but it isn’t the be-all end-all of pre-college summer programs. There are plenty of other junior-specific opportunities that you would be sure to benefit from as well. You’re going to be just fine!

thank you! i believe the prompts are still there and I have completed the parts so really I just need to send the application. I appreciate all yall’s advice!!

@starrangele02 i strongly recommend calling their office if they don’t respond soon. i know from obsessively reading past TASP threads some past TASP finalists had trouble getting responses to schedule their interview but had their problem resolved after calling their office directly. by calling directly, you also make a true human connection (can explain your problem in a way that garners empathy rather than just through the sterile words of an email), potentially increasing the chances of your application being considered.

i wish you the best luck!!! <3

does anyone know what the rejection email they sent to taspers in previous years looks like?

what time do notifications come out?

@kanagawa Mine came out at 10:51 AM EST on March 3rd!

@5toryt3ll3r so before my spring break, which is perfect because I wouldn’t want a bad decision to come during my spring break and ruin it

thank u! @5toryt3ll3r
that’s so close oh my gosh i’m already nervous

@kanagawa
I’ve found that a good trick to manage anxiety is to remind myself of the astronomically tiny odds!

I would be terrified to open it if I got it during class

You’re welcome @kanagawa! And don’t worry @memeqween101, you’re going to have an awesome spring break and summer experience regardless of the TASP decisions ^.^

When do decisions normally come out? I know it says “mid March” but like does anyone have a more specific time frame?

@artgivesmelife The interview results will probably be out in the first week of March. @5toryt3ll3r got hers on the 3rd in her year

can you further elaborate or explain what the interview process is like? @Storyt3ll3r

also, what exact information is on the acceptance paper and is it better to request an interview in person or over the phone? @Storyt3ll3r
