Tattoos

I want a tattoo of a turtle.

i don’t see why people have such strong feelings against tattoos. what does it matter to you? i mean, unless someone tattoos you while you are sleeping, which is impossible unless you have a very bad sleep-related disorder…

^^^ I’d be more concerned about a tea bag than a tattoo when i’m sleeping :)

I think it’s a generational thing. Growing up in the dark ages, like I did, the only people that had tattoos were renegades and bad boys…now it’s so blase, everyone has them. They’re not so unique anymore.
I still don’t care for them but hey…to each his/her own.

Probably because tattoos carry stigmatic connotations since they were once and still are popular among criminals. There’s a negative association between tattoos and low socioeconomic class, hence all the comments about tattoos looking “trashy.”

I’m the opposite. I see tattoos as a work of art. Depending on the designs and placements, tattoos can accentuate a person’s looks and perhaps even detract from the ugly.

The idea that there are semi-permanent tattoos is a myth. I was looking into getting one but I researched it and I guess they don’t really go away. The best you can really hope for is that it fades a little, but that’s it.

I have a tattoo. I don’t see the big deal with them either. I do see a problem with people who get them on their faces- it makes me question their judgement.

Anyway, for a guy, the best part is on the shoulder blades. For some reason, the only good arm tats I’ve seen have been military symbols. My cousin has a huge dragon across his back and it looks awesome, but he’s also like 6’4" and a stunt man so he can pull off a huge tat.

I am getting a tattoo over spring break. One of two things, my family crest…or since I am such a ford fan…the front of my truck, with the ford symbol enlarged, and on the license plate a mustang emblem. They will both be on my upper back.

I want to get a couple of tattoos. I want one with a real cool Lion design that says Lion Hearted on it, and then some Chicago Bulls themed one. I saw a really good Chicago themed one, with the Jordan logo over the Chicago skyline that I liked.

My only problems with getting one, are one, don’t know where to put it. I don’t want the tattoo to get distorted if I say put it on my arm, and then put on more muscle there or something. Second, for me, I would have to get something really customized, and I haven’t really had the time to critically think about how I would want to tattoos to look, absolutely would have to be something unique and not generic for me.

I love girls with tattoos. Tramp stamps are fine by me, and sleeves are hot as hell on girls.

I have one tattoo in a easily hidable place, and it has a lot of meaning to me. I love it when people show obvious disgust about others having a tattoo or two, because then I already know I want nothing to do with them and their close-mindedness. :)

Individualized-Why would someone disliking tattoos make them close-minded? I mean, if they were making assumptions about people with tattoos, that would be I’ve thing, but not just disliking them. I HATE facial piercings. I just don’t like the idea of metal sticking through my face. Does that make me close-minded? It bothers me when people call anyone who has a different opinion than them close-minded, when it has nothing to do with judging people or having some sort of preconceived notions.

Anyway. I thought I was going to get a tattoo for years, but I can’t come up with something I like enough to ink on for life. I really love meaningful tattoos, though. I know a girl who’s mother died of breast cancer and she got a pink ribbon with the words “fight like a girl”. I thought that was so cool.

LivingOxymoron, I would have to disagree. You can dislike tattoos, but when you judge someone JUST because they have one, when you assume they are trashy, stupid, etc. it’s just close minded and ignorant.

Tattoo’s that aren’t going to be seen should be somewhat personal, otherwise why get one? I have one that trails from my lower hip all the way up my side, but no one can see it unless they’re sleeping with me… and if they’re sleeping with me, having a tattoo isn’t going to do anything ;)

I personally think tattoos are attractive if well done, but stick away from tramp stamps and tribals/flames/barbed wires.
