Imagine if Taylor became Princess Taylor.
I also saw a cute video of Paul McCartney walking through the crowd, singing at the top of his lungs with the British Swifties.
If a year ago I told you there would be a picture floating around the interwebs of Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce, Prince William and his kids and no Kate you would have called me crazy.
While I’m not impressed with this man’s opinion, it may help young Swifties understand a certain mindset that exists
How very sexist.
"Would any loving parent reading this want their daughter to date 12 different men in the span of just a few years? "
How disingenuous. The dating history this guy references begain in 2008, 16 years ago. Some of these are simply “went out on a few dates” kinds of situations, not real love relationships.
This article is sexist, judgmental, preachy, and deliberately misleading.
It’s not Taylor Swift’s responsibility to get married and have children on anyone else’s timeline but her own. She does not owe anyone, much less en entire society of young girls, that.
There’s a word for this that I apparently don’t know how to spell
The author is clearly threatened by TS’s success.
Gotta say, my D (33, married with one child) loves Taylor and is a huge fan. Different lifestyle, but so what?
If Swift wasn’t a woman this article never gets written. What a joke.
This reminds me of when I saw an episode of the Oprah Winfrey show back in the 90’s and a young woman was being shamed by the audience. I don’t remember all the details, but I do remember married women standing up in the audience boasting about only having sex with one person - their husbands. Rounds of applause would follow.
I completely agree. It’s exactly the reason why I posted a link to the opinion piece. I feel it can be a great conversation starter…especially for young women.
I find the intersection of “traditional roles”, personal values and societal expectations interesting. Challenging “the patriarchy” norms takes courage. More power to her.
The article is just stupid and it makes the writer look like an idiot. I read some of the comments after the article and they were great. The Swifties are going to be coming for this guy (as they should!).
Problem is there are plenty of people that think the biggest problem in the US right now is that there are too many single women in their 30s that are not married nor having babies.
If she was a man no one would care.
It seams that that opinion article could have been written by the Chiefs kicker….
Isn’t Travis Kelsey 34 and single, is he a poor role model? Just saying.
Travis is definitely a poor role model, swears like a sailor.
That article is so dumb, Newsweek should be ashamed that they printed it.
Idk a billionaire who raises money for food banks, has voter registration booths and is a singer, songwriter and multi talented is everyone’s role model. ![]()
I have a colleague whose daughter is a travel agent and she booked a hotel and flights for a guy and his niece to go see Taylor in Portugal. She also had some other clients going to Ireland to see her and she did flights, hotels, and some sightseeing before and after the concert. One of her co-workers booked a flight to Germany for some people to see her there. People are really willing to travel and spend money to go see her.
I read somewhere that different world leaders were writing to Taylor to get her to perfom in their countries…
I think even some members of the British Royal family went to see her…
I hadn’t seen the Taylor Swift is. Bad Role Model article. I’ll make sure to tell my D, who is Taylor’s age, how proud I am of her for getting married and having a child … despite the fact that she likes Taylor Swift. Oops … she’s probably only having one, so maybe Taylor was a bad influence on her. Oh, and her H is a strong man … apparently, that’s a bad thing. And she may have dated other men & had break ups … I wouldn’t know, because she lived in another state and it wasn’t my business. Maybe she was damaged after all by the fact that she has liked Taylor for years. I should probably forbid her from seeing Taylor again, just in case that concert she is supposed to go to in Toronto in the fall ends up making her leave her H and D … you know, that Taylor influence is real. NOT.
Taylor isn’t a great role model for other reasons, lol - her creepy relationship with Conor Kennedy is one of them. Yes, it was a relationship but it was an unequal one - she was 22, he was 17 (or 23 and 18 depending on the narrative). If the genders were reversed, it would/should have turned heads.
While I think she has some catchy songs, her general career TO ME has been unimpressive from an artistic standpoint. She sells out stadiums but has issues singing live (as mic feeds prove).
Creepy? They dated for all of 2 months. He was 18 and she was 22.
Sorry didn’t realize this was a Swiftie thread.
