Holy smokes!
Maybe she wants to join our “friendsgiving” Nov/Dec thread!!! ![]()
She works harder than everybody else. That’s a big part of the reason she is so successful.
The woman released 3 new albums and 2 re-recorded ones during COVID. That’s a special kind of motivation.
One of which won Album of the Year at the Grammys. She worked prodigiously during Covid.
As of 12/11/2023 morning, Time has sold 220K+ physical copies of the Taylor Swift Person of the Year magazine.
They won’t even be available to buy at newsstands until Friday the 15th.
Last year’s Zelenskyy issue sold 65k.
LOL! Payola…
who cares

I just don’t think the teens these days want to pin up pictures of Zelensky on their bedroom walls.
Glad to see people are still buying magazines. I didn’t have to wait at the hairdresser’s today so didn’t have a chance to catch up on People.
I still don’t get most of the TS mania but can’t deny her work ethic or her “girl power” vibe - and to the extent that those things inspire younger generations of girls, I can get on board.
I didn’t even know Time was still being published.
It’s just like any other publication trying to drum up sales/clicks (like US News’s college rankings) - if they picked a political figure, the buzz would have died down much sooner and left out an entire generation. TS keeps bringing in the $$$.
FWIW, I think Pink is equally inspiring to women and a much more talented vocalist but because she doesn’t look like TS, the younger generations aren’t as interested.
Pink is 44 years old. She aims for a different demographic. I agree that she’s incredibly talented, though. She is hard working & dedicated. But she also has a family & has to balance her life. It’s tough to rule the world when you want to make time for your family.
I think setting up that kind of opposition is exactly what both women would abhor.
She’s 44 now, but I believe her debut album was when she was in her early 20’s and she’s been singing since she was 14 years old.
Taylor Swift has the “It” factor even though her vocals aren’t always the strongest. Kudos to her - she could have settled for quietly making tons of money on songwriting (which she is very talented at), but she pushed beyond that to become one of the most celebrated artists of all time.
I should clarify that I think the need to balance work & family applies to both male & female artists. Being a good parent means being present. Brandi Carlile and her band have made a very interesting community for themselves that allows them to achieve that balance (although Brandi has sung about the changes to her life that she happily embraced once she had a child).
Prime Video has a show (P!nk All I know so far) about Pink’s European concert tour. The program shows Pink bringing her family on her tour. It’s tough to balance! This acrobatic video is the final number of the program.
How about Taylor singing the national anthem for the Chiefs tonight?? Would love to see her open the game.
I really like Taylor Swift and listen to her music. I raise my hand as a football fan who is done with seeing her multiple times at the games. It was cute, but I think moving on would be great!
That’s on the NFL though. They’re the ones putting the camera on her. She’s just out there living her life, and getting mountains of crap for doing so.
Marshall Mathers aka Eminem was shown on the television last night rooting on his beloved Lions. I’m not hearing an outcry.
They show famous people in the crowd. Always have, always will
At the national championship, Derek Jeter was shown in his box celebrating. Not one thing is being said.
Taylor Swift’s jacket at the game was
! Made by Kristin Juszczyk, wife of the 49er’s fullback. Simone Biles wore one of her coats at a Packers game. Taylor Lautner wore one at the Lions game last night. All the girl power to women owned businesses!
Never said it wasn’t the NFL ![]()
