*aren’t NOT isn’t, SORRY! Lol

Guys, don’t be devastated if anyone gets rejected! TFA is awesome but not the only option. There are lots of great opportunities for qualified people like we all are (if we made it this far in such a competitive program!). So just treat it as one of the amazing opportunities we have ahead of us :)

Ps- Thursday cannot come anytime sooner???

Yeah, I am trying not to think about it for the next two days. My TF status hasn’t changed at all… :(…so I don’t really know what to think at this point. If I don’t get in I will be upset but at the same time it won’t be so bad since I am already in Grad school and the hubby works full time…only now he is talking about joining the Air Force if I don’t get in…

I love you all’s attitudes about this. Yes, not getting in will be tough, but we all have other options and TFA isn’t the end-all for us!

And let’s not forget: we could still be wait-listed. Seems like a lot of 5D-ers from last year were. I’m not sure if getting wait-listed will be like a reprieve from rejection or just worse to be strung along like that!

ooh, I don’t know if that would be better than being outright rejected. It would certainly be more frustrating but there would be a possibility of eventual acceptance still! Do we have any idea of how many of last year’s waitlisted candidates eventually were accepted?

Also, looking through here not only at usernames but at “member since” dates, KnickyG, you’re the only person (on page 94, at least) who was involved with College Confidential before either this month or last. Yay TFA insanity! :)

No idea what percentage were waitlisted, though compared to the relatively few/possily no one waitlisted in previous rounds this year, I bet that there will be many this round that TFA will want to take but can’t for some reason, and so they’ll be waitlisted. Last year the waitlist was open until May 20th, so if we’re on it, we may have quite the long wait after April 12th.

That’d be quite a bummer. I’m trying not to get too nervous about this but I just so badly want to join TFA! Should I be rejected, I think I’m going to take a year off, do some volunteer work, and start looking into grad schools (and of course, reapply to TFA!).

what grades/locations/subjects are you guys hoping to get?

@ssadiesades Oh, thats because I also do college application essay corrections on here and one other place as well. I first came on here about two years ago when I was first applying to Graduate schools. The people were super helpful on here (and it worked, I got in) so I was helping others correct their grammar and expand their vocab on their essay. I actually didn’t learn about TFA until about two months before the 5DL. I wasn’t going to apply originally but a lady that works at my internship place kept telling me that I should.

For grades/locations/subjects, I have a few preferences, though I said I was open to everything besides French and Spanish. I think I’d prefer elementary school, be in a larger city (really, anything not rural but preferably a city), and for subjects I’d like social studies/history or English (if I’m in middle school or high school.)

But if I’m placed in high school biology, for some unknowable reason since I haven’t taken bio since I was in high school, I’d still take it haha.

I’ve been a member for at least two years. Anyone else feeling the stress? lol Thats rhetorical

yeah I put Spanish as one of my last choices since I don’t actually speak Spanish at all haha

I put down that I would do everything but HS Math or Science and Spanish…i can’t speak any Spanish so I would be pretty useless there and they don’t seem to have a high demand for bilingual Japanese speakers.

I am pretty stuck in Hawaii for family reasons and I am just hoping I still get in…

For subjects I chose: Elementary, ESL ( I am already ESL certified), Spanish (Which I speak fluently + the ESL experience), and Special Education (because I have been working with special needs for the last year doing Behavioral therapy). Oh I also put Social Studies (would love that!!)

So…I hope my geographical constraint does not prevent me from getting a spot! We will see :)

I don’t even know if transitional funding is a good indicator for me as I didn’t apply/upload support materials until 5 days past the deadline. As the day gets closer I am gradually going more bonkers over everything! haha.

@bubblerj: I hear they don’t look at your geographical/subject preferences until after you have been accepted. Likewise, I am pretty stuck in the Baltimore-Washington metro area. Hoping we both get accepted and placed in our preference regions :)

@wonderstruck08-did you preference any areas outside of the Baltimore-Washington area?

I selected about 20 different regions but I’m more concerned that my subject areas aren’t diverse enough. I pretty much excluded all of highschool, art, music, and foreign language from my form, but I’m open to everything else. Maybe it won’t affect decisions but I feel like based on my preferences I may be waitlisted. Who knows lol. I also wish I could’ve applied to an earlier deadline. For some reason I feel like we are dealt a bad hand in general since we are the last deadline. What does everyone else think?

I highly preferenced only DC, Baltimore & Delaware. I included several others that I would consider but would most likely be unable to accept in preferred and least preferred (simply because there was the requirement to list at least 10).

I’ve sort of convinced myself at this point that I will not be selected but every once and a while I keep imagining “but what if I DO get it”. Sighhhh. I’ve never been so unsure of my like chances at getting chosen for something before.

I’m not sure. I don’t think it affects whether we are not rejected or not, which I say specifically because wait listing is more common for us since they may just not have any spaces left by the time it gets to us. I wish I had learned of TFA sooner, I would have applied to an earlier deadline.

only two more days!!

also, wonderstruck, where in the dc/balto area? I’m from around there; even though I put these regions as low on my preferences, I think I’ll be coming back here eventually!

@ssadiesades: I am getting ready to graduate from UMBC, so I am currently in the Catonsville area. My family lives closer to Towson.
