Teacher arrested for punching student

Sometimes you have the option of running away and sometimes you don’t.
In this particular case, the teacher didn’t have that option.

If the attacker is a 250 pound male and the victim is a 100 pound
female, who do you think the police will believe?

Breaking someone’s nose would have more of an effect on someone than
hitting them in the lip - in this case, it appears that the teacher
hit what she could. The attacker was quite a bit taller and it wasn’t
clear that she could hit his nose with force given her position.

Then you are mischaracterizing the positions of everyone else here.

In this case, it was merely instinctive.

Yeah, we got that. Thanks.

It was the right thing to do in this case because it worked. The teacher
had more knowledge of the situation and the kid than you or I.

So did you run? Scream for help? Walk out the door? Talk the person down?
Did you assess your options and analyze the situation in a calm, cool way?

There have been any number of cases of self-defense where the attacker
was killed. Planted six-feet under. Forget your stupid eggshell skull
theory. This is self-defense.

You’ve never had to live in the real world.

Oops, my bad! I find your statement that it is NEVER automatically the right thing to do so ludicrous that you can write 50 posts to your heart’s content (and it seems you are well on your way to doing that) and I will continue to shake my head…

Wow, so my statements are ludicrous, the law is stupid, and I’ve never had to live in the real world because I’ve never been in a fight. Thanks for the enlightening discourse.
