There’s something about Tim Tebow that is hard to explain. I was at a swim meet visiting at the Univ of Fl a few years ago when the Gator football team was walking by outside the pool going to their practice fields. Parents and folks standing around started running toward Tebow like flies on honey…it was crazy. No one wanted to talk to any of the other guys on the football team and there were Olympic medalist swimmers at the swim meet…everyone was hot just to see Tim Tebow.

He was signed because while he is not a starting quarterback, he IS a solid athlete that the offensive coordinator believes in. He will be a third string QB, someone they can put in for a few specialty plays. This is not exactly a rebirth, it is more of a temporary reprieve.

Temporary might be the keyword here. The Pats carried only two QBs last year. It might come down to the 53d player kept on the roster at the end of the pre-season.

No matter the outcome, there will be a reason to watch a couple of the pre-season snooze-fests of the Pats. Chances are that they will bring some comical relief.

Most famous backup in the world
We’re not sure if you’ve had sex with a girl
You barely played, but that’s alright
Your biggest fan is Jesus Christ

They sat you down, strung you along
Now’s your chance, to prove them wrong

Tebow Tebow, released from the Jets
Tebow Tebow, you’re a Patriot
Tebow Tebow, it’s Tom Brady’s show
Will you play? I don’t think so …

You were on the Jets, your arm is a mess
You can’t throw a pass, so they started Sanchez
You’ve got your old Heisman but you still got fired
You got a new job, now you’re back in the news
You bought some new Uggs to fill Tom Brady’s shoes
Cuz you hate the Jets
So does Bill Belichick
It’s your chance to impress

So now learn to throw
I said, now learn to throw

Tebow Tebow, released from the Jets
Tebow Tebow, you’re a Patriot
Tebow Tebow, it’s Tom Brady’s show
**Will you play? I said hell no … **

You seem to like the idea of heaven and hell sir.

I have even a game plan for Tebow. He plays whole season as a backup offensive tackle. In the last play of the Super Bowl with Pats trailing 42-40 and having a possession in the red zone Tebow enters the game. He then lets the defenseman he had to block go after Brady. But the defense did not even realize that Tebow was eligible to receive pass because they thought Tebow’s only duty was blocking so he enters the end zone and receives a game-winning TD pass. Then ESPN repeats Tebow’s name until human life disappears from earth. The End.

A new Immaculate Reception would be fitting for St. Tebow. However, the play that would never happen (cuz the FG) would probably end just like this one:

HBO will have the Cinn. Bengals on its Hard Knocks show this year. How boring. They were boring in 2009 and will be boring again. Why HBO could not get the Pats is beyond me. With Tebow on the roster and all the questions about how he will play, they would have a ratings gold mine.

A lot is yet to be learned. But if it turns out badly, he certainly had his opportunity to escape any bad influences. Life is basically choices. Right now, his aren’t looking to have been optimal.

I think Bill is out of the country on vacation. The Pats have told Hernandez not to come to the stadium, which is sensible. The reports of warrants have all been wrong so far.
