One of his favorite restaurants:

see menu - hanlf way down" Semolina classics" - Macaroni and cheese cake. A FAVORITE. Really tasty. A million calories though.

I’m rooting for him too and I so hope I’m wrong. And I really really liked him on Kimmel last night too. Not only a great voice, but such a charismatic, funny guy.

But trust me, I was not confusing him with addicted housewives living in the burbs. I’ve worked quite a lot as a volunteer in our downtown core with homeless addicts, for years. We run a program offering free classes and I have done all kinds of practical workshops too. They don’t clean up out of the blue and not know exactly what that turning point date was and why, and just like you and I, they eat, they use phones, they have friends, they have schedules, and they know today’s date. They are also amazingly agile practiced liars- they have to be to, simply to survive.

Don’t get me wrong though: I really hope he is given a second chance and taken at his word about his sobriety. I really want to be wrong here on my suspicions so he can turn his life around.

Just heard he has 9 kids. This should get interesting.

^ Ah that is sad.

I just don’t see how someone clean and sober for two years has not been in touch with his mother, to show him the son she loved as returned. It doesn’t add up.

I think too many expect him to be a “clean and tidy” homeless recovering addict. One who offers us the right hope and fantasy. The story of the victim of circumstance, who has courageously tackled a vice and now his perseverance has paid off. This narrow slice of his life sits well with big corporations selling products to families. It’s a feel good, almost wholesome, story.

While this slice of Ted may be very true, the much larger backstory is going to ruin this fairy tale and will Kraft continue the association? You just don’t suffer with this kind of illness, to the point of years of homelessness, and not also have a long path of tragedy behind you. There are offspring, ex-wives and girlfriends, convictions, accusations, former disgruntled employers, and testimonials of ‘former friends’.

Soon he won’t be the ‘right kind of’ recovering addict. It won’t just be alcohol, but a complex mix of other drugs he has struggled with. And he will have used more recently than we all thought. He will have had to have bought and sold drugs at the low end of the food chain (from one addict to the next) to feed his addiction on the street, and someone invariably will label that ‘drug dealing’ and…

This story will not end well. So says my gut. The media will turn on him. Build him up one day/week/month, tear him down the next. It’s the way of the world for petty celebrities.

9 kids? Hello, child support court. It will not be pretty.

2 years sober? Uhhhh… No. Judging by his appearance and demeanor I’ll bet you a dollar to a donut that’s just not the case.

There’s blood in the water. And they are coming after him.

Good luck to him. We live in strange times.

I’m pretty sure he said on the Today show that all of his children are grown, and he has grandchildren as well. Maybe we’ll all be surprised and this will have a happy ending.

Was just going to say that he is no spring chicken and that his kids are grown. That said, the network execs were already fighting over him (literally), and apparently he ticked off one assistant because he was ruining their exclusive scoop, so she snipped that she was renegging on the offer of a cellphone.

So I’m figuring the media will keep the romantic, hopeful story alive as long as possible. So he will go on the talk shows. We see he’s been reconnected with his 90 year old mother, who he has not seen in 10 years. I imagine we might also see reunions with his children. Or maybe see him in his new home. They will run through, and out of all of the upbeat versions first. When those run dry it will be only a matter of time that they start to build up the bad versions, to keep the story fresh.

I am only guessing of course, but I think if he had a good PR firm maybe he could nip the negative in the butt by revealing it all now, while he’s still riding high and has control over it. Let it leak out now, so there isn’t a juicy story to explode.

My thought-- he won’t last long in the limelight, but he’ll ultimately, after the initial hype dies down, take some smaller opportunity, probably in his home town, and stay off the streets. Hopefully he will stay clean and sober.

[Octomom Foreclosure – On the Brink of Losing Her House | TMZ.com](<a href=“Octomom Foreclosure -- On the Brink of Losing Her House”>Octomom Foreclosure -- On the Brink of Losing Her House) octomom is about to lose her home. The hype wears off

I can see parallels as jym shows us, but one significant difference is that I don’t remember anyone being thrilled with Octomom’s new success. In fact, I am not aware of any Octomom’s success. Most feel what made her famous was not a good thing.
I am hoping this difference makes a difference.

According to the link below, the man who has become Ted’s handler is someone who has literally known him a long time and has awareness of the need for Ted to watch the fast fame. Ted’s sponser is also involved. It also indicates that there are offers of mental health assistence.
