Tell me about Philadelphia and if I were to be relocating there from Chicago.

Well, my youngest leaves for school next fall, so it’s going to be a big change around here, anyway. Might as well go with the flow is what I think. Adapt or ? what? Plus, I have a few interests I have yet to really pursue. I guess I’m lucky that way.

What about you? Still staying in the Bay Area?

Yes. Staying in the bay area. Family and friends are here. My wife’s interests are here.

I think sometimes I want to move, but I am not really going to move. I guess I don’t really want to leave the area.

I am not sure what I am going to do in the future.

“Plus, I have a few interests I have yet to really pursue. I guess I’m lucky that way.”

That’s great.

Gosh, having gone to school in the Philadelphia suburbs and then lived in the city proper for 20 years (after growing up in southern Wisconsin) - I would never leave a fantastic city like Chicago for Philly. Not in a million years.

Forever58, I certainly wouldn’t characterize Media or Swarthmore as “in decline”. That’s absurd. They are both VERY nice neighborhoods. Swarthmore is beautiful, and Media, surrounded by suburbs, is a lively, walkable small town (5000 pop) with a main street full of businesses, restaurants, etc. Both have very good public school districts.

I love Chicago, too. But there’s nothing wrong with Phila. It’s smaller than Chicago, but most places are. lol It all depends on your personal preference.
